Dubai: Tulu group conducts blood donation camp

Dubai, Jan 19: Tulu Patherga Tulu Oripaga, a web based group for the first time conducted a successful 'Blood Donation Campaign' at Sheikha Latifa Hospital, Dubai on January 11, from 11.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.

Under the leadership of couple Prem Jeeth - Shobitha Prem Jeeth and combined by the support of  enthusiastic youngsters like Ritu Anchan, Ramesh Suvarna, Jeethu Bhasker and many more united Tuluvas are leading this Face Book group called 'Tulu Patherga Tulu Oripaga' for a long time.  This is the first time they have supported this blood donation campaign and their attempt for this good cause is being seconded by many Tulu speaking people who enthusiastically have come and donated blood in large number.

Some of the community leaders who joined were Balakrishna Salian of Mogaveers who is the pioneer in arranging blood donation for various associations and well known in Latifa Hospital, Satish Ventakaramana of Ganigara Samaj who have extended his support by distributing soft drinks and T-shirt hampers to all the donors, Sudhakar Alva of Bunts UAE and Shodhan Prasad of Nama Tuluveru who always give moral support to the donors every time, Madhav Poojary from Billawa Balaga and friend Gopal Prabhu who supported with transport facility during the campaign.

Prem Jeeth & Shobitha recently had compiled and released a book on Tulu Script called 'Appe Baashe' during Nama Tuluveru UAE's 'Tulu Parba' and had achieved accolades for this contribution to Tulu Nadu. Fruits and juices were distributed to all the donors.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) organized Blood Donation Camp at Latifa Hospital, Oud Mehta Dubai on April 23rd, 2020 in association with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and with support from Community Development Authority (CDA) Government of Dubai.

Blood Donation Drive started in the morning at 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Around 48 people participated in this drive and donated blood to support the Dubai Blood Bank.

A potential shortage of blood for transfusions has been occurred due to a significant reduction in voluntary blood donations during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic, health services are now running with shortages of blood availability. To support the DHA Blood Bank KSCC taken initiative to ensure that blood donations continued and are safe for both the donor and the recipient.

After taking safety precaution and safe distance during the blood donation donors feeling happy and honored to participate and donate blood at this pandemic situation. Club Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi was also present during this event.

KSCC appreciated all the blood donors and be grateful to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Community Development Authority (CDA), and Government of Dubai for their association for this event. They also thanked the volunteers and supporters.

Dubai, Aug 7: ‘Nama Tuluve’ Purushotham Salian, a staunch stalwart who always supported humanity and a strong pillar for Tuluvas in Dubai, passed away August, 4 at Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain. He was suffering from cancer and was admitted to Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain some time ago. He was on the last stage of illness which was not detected earlier.

His funeral last rites were conducted on Thursday August 7 at Jebel Ali cemetery in Hindu rites with a few of his family members present. Due to Covid pandemic, neither his body was able to be flown back to hometown nor could his two children come down to attend the funeral. However, it was said that his wish was to be cremated here in Dubai which unknowingly sometime back he whispered to one of his friends.

Purushotham had few years ago, survived a heart attack and fought back his life, though it had a minor paralytic effect on him. Even though, till recently he used to do his day-to-day work normally. He was a hard working personality and owned a readymade garment shop in Ajman and Dubai mostly taking care of clients with requirement of uniforms and coveralls. His dedication towards work was always appreciated by his clients who used to get their things delivered on time always.

He was never a publicity person and was helping the poor and needy in whatever ways he could silently. He strongly supported the community and was associated with Nama Tuluveru and Billawa community with commitment. He used to voluntarily come forward for the ground work of various functions of the community and used to be there until it was done perfectly.

Dubai: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club (KSCC) distributed Eid Kit across the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah to the ) needy people on Eid al Fitr.

KSCC President Mr. Mohammed Ismail Said: “Eid is a Symbol of Gratitude and Unity. As the last few weeks have been hard for each one of us, we wanted to stand in solidarity to celebrate Eid, by helping labours and needy people. He also said that “We are together to be part of UAE. Serving these meals is our core social responsibility."

KSCC recently conducted humanitarian services during COVID-19 pandemic in 2 phases and conducted Blood Donation Drive. They have also planned to conduct next Blood Donation Drive on 25th May, 2020.

The KSCC main objective is to develop the expatriate community into a well-nourished section of society in the areas of social, sports and cultural activities.
