UAKK urges Jet airways to start direct flight to Kuwait-Mangalore

Kuwait, February 10:  A delegation from United Associations of Karnataka, Kuwait (UAKK), a forum of several Associations of Karnataka and North Kerala in Kuwait met Jaleel Khaled, General Manager of Jet Airways for Kuwait, Abudhabi and Al-Ain region at Sharq and submitted a memorandum recently.

The memorandum addressed to Naresh Goel, Chairman of Jet Airways requested him to consider and start direct flights to Kuwait / Mangalore Sector or Kuwait / Mangalore / Bangalore Sector as soon as possible as most of the Coastal Karnataka NRIs and the NRIs from northern parts of Kerala living in Kuwait prefer to travel in Jet Airways flights.

The delegation included Mr. Hasan Yusuf and prominent Coastal Karnataka NRIs Mr. Satishchandra Shetty, Mr. Archie Menezes, Mr. Ramesh Kidiyoor, Mr. Stephen Machado, Mr. Fayaz Shaikh and Mr. James Paul.

The memorandum was jointly signed by the Heads of Karnataka Muslim Welfare Association (KMWA), Kuwait, Tulukoota Kuwait (TKK), Kuwait Canara Welfare Association, Kuwait (KCWA), Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA), Karnataka Wing, Kuwait Kannada Koota (KKK), Kasaragod Expats Association (KEA), Bantara Sangha Kuwait (BSK), Shirva Welfare Association, Kuwait (SWAK), Kundapur Varado Welfare Association, Kuwait (KVWA), St. Aloysius College Alumni Association (SACAA), Kuwait, Kuwait Pangala Association (KPA), Agnesian Alumnae Kuwait (AAK).

Responding to the memorandum, Jaleel Khaled said that he will personally talk to the Jet Airways Senior Management regarding this request from UAKK Coastal Karnataka NRIs in Kuwait.

UAKK has been formed to accelerate joint strategies for some common goals of Karnataka State NRIs in Kuwait.

Dubai, May 20: Dubai-based Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club’s humanitarian services in charge Naseer Karaje team have appreciated the efforts of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Mangaluru Airport director, NGOs of Mangaluru, and MLA for extending a royal welcome to second batch of repatriates from Dubai that landed at Mangaluru Airport on May 18.

There was so much of confusions when 1st batch of repatriation flight landed in Mangaluru airport on 12th May due to lack of proper arrangements and co ordination.

This time due to proper arrangements and special supervision by the DC everything was driven smoothly. It has given a confidence to all the Manglurean expats of Dubai in returning to their native places, the KSCC said.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.

Kuwait: Friday Forum Kuwait conducted its 12th inter-school Islamic Elocution Competition at Hotel Rajadhani Palace, Khaitan on 1st January 2020. 

The competition, which was held in the senior and junior categories had participation from 15 Indian Schools across Kuwait comprising of 43 students. In the senior category, Ayisha Wafiya of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Efrem Joseph of Indian Community School, Amman won the second prize. 

In the junior category, Hima Jameela of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Fadhel Kandapath of Fahaheel Al Wataniya Indian School won the second prize. Nawaal Yaseen Ebrahim of Indian Community School (SR), Salmiya and Rhruthunanda of Indian Learners Own Academy, Abbasiya won the consolation prizes in senior and junior categories respectively.

This year, the event was fully conducted by the ladies wing of Friday Forum. Dr. Thasneem Amir, Ibtisam Basheer, Toast Masters Ola Rasheed, Fatma Abduhedeid, Shazia Thabassum and Marium Rangat were the judges for the competition in senior and junior categories. The event started with the Qira’at by Saneera Riyas, followed by welcome speech by Dr. Sajna Mohammed. 

The prizes were distributed to winners by Shahina Mansoor, Femitha Faseeh, Dr.Thasneem Amir, Dr. Sajna Mohammed, Zeenath Yacoub, Safna Sayam and Saneera Riyas. The Souvenir for the program - “INSPERIA 2020”- was released during the event by the chief editor Farha Abdul Rahman. The program was compered by Thanveera Noushad and the program convenor Subeana Shabeer conveyed the vote of thanks.
