Abu Dhabi: Mohamed Ali Uchil reelected as president of BWF

Abu Dhabi, Apr 10: Bearys Welfare Forum, a well-known, charity oriented and community service organization of NRI Bearys celebrated Millad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) and conducted its general body meeting followed by a joint meeting of newly formed BWF-executive committee and BWF-Youth Wing.

Mohamed Ali Uchil, the President of BWF presided over the meeting. Abdul Rauf conducted Quran recitation.

Coordinator of BWF Rafeeq Krishnapur compered the program. Vice President Sheikh Bava welcomed the gathering and addressed the community members.

Vice Presidents Hamza Abdul Khader and Sheikh Bava along with Basheer Bajpe, Chief Advisor, Muhammad Siddik Kaup, Treasurere and Abdul Majeed , Auditor were on the dais.

Abdul Hameed Gurupur, Joint Secretary, presented the detailed report.

Abdulla Madumoole, General Secretary, thanked all the members for their support, and emphasized BWF’s complete commitment to serve the poor and needy of the community. In his key note address he gave the example of simplicity and trustworthiness of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and emphasized about importance of education and to understanding and interpretation of education in Quran.

Healthy and informative discussions were held on the issues of the community and to address it.

Muhammad Rafeeq Krishnapur, Muhammad Kallapu, Imran Ahmed, Jaleel Gurupur, Siddik Uchil and Nazeer Ubar were instrumental in arranging the programme.

Mohammed Ali Uchil, in his presidential address thanked all the members of the BWF for dedicated service to the community, and the office bearers for their team spirit, tireless effort to serve the community and their complete dedication to the cause BWF believe in.

He expressed his gratitude to all the donors of the BWF embarked novel mission of less privileged girls Mass Marriage, and providing sanitation facilities to the people without access to sanitation. He lauded the highly success of BWF-launched campaign of dowry free marriage and toilet schemes, and requested to address the issue of poverty and other related issues. All members expressed their satisfaction and appreciation to BWF- for beyond the expected success of 4th mass marriage held on January 13 -2013 at Mangalore.

A warm felicitation was given to Abdulla Madumoole, on his selection of assistant to treasurer of Abu Dhabi Indian School Governing Body.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.

Dr Soofi Anwar, Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus, has achieved the prestigious professional recognition of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK. He has achieved this milestone through the Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE), the Continuing Professional Development Framework (CPD) for learning and teaching at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. 

He was recognized for this achievement on recently concluded virtual Learning & Teaching Conference-2020 organized by University of Stirling Campus in UK.  He has secured his Ph.D. in Management from University of Azteca, Mexico.

Dr. Soofi Anwar has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level and has worked in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK.

He has completed his MBA from Dept. of Business Administration, Mangalore University in 1999 and his B. Com degree from Canara College Mangaluru.

He has published numerous research papers in management and in the area of teaching and learning in higher education in reputed academic journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing. 

He is a son of Haji Abdul Khadar Kodijal and Mrs. Mariyamma from Konaje, Mangaluru.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) organized Blood Donation Camp at Latifa Hospital, Oud Mehta Dubai on April 23rd, 2020 in association with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and with support from Community Development Authority (CDA) Government of Dubai.

Blood Donation Drive started in the morning at 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Around 48 people participated in this drive and donated blood to support the Dubai Blood Bank.

A potential shortage of blood for transfusions has been occurred due to a significant reduction in voluntary blood donations during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic, health services are now running with shortages of blood availability. To support the DHA Blood Bank KSCC taken initiative to ensure that blood donations continued and are safe for both the donor and the recipient.

After taking safety precaution and safe distance during the blood donation donors feeling happy and honored to participate and donate blood at this pandemic situation. Club Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi was also present during this event.

KSCC appreciated all the blood donors and be grateful to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Community Development Authority (CDA), and Government of Dubai for their association for this event. They also thanked the volunteers and supporters.
