Kannada Koota UAE hosts ‘Sangeeta Nrithya Saurabha’

Dubai, Apr 16: Kannada Koota UAE organized ‘Sangeetha Saurabha’ recently at JSS International School, Al-Barsha. The event witnessed outstanding response.

The programme which began with ‘Ganesha Vandana’ by ‘Brahmara’ group of Bangalore went on to see some spectacular dance performances like the ‘Dashavataram’, fusion dance, ‘Jaya Bharatha Jananiya Thanujathe’ etc.

Standup comedian and Kannada small screen actor Shrinath Vashista had the audiences breaking into laugh riots with his comedy speech programme.

It was nice to hear the melodious singing by local talented Kannada singers Shiva Kumar, Guru Raj, Uday Nanjappa, Vidya Shiva, Sneha and Deepa who presented old, new, popular Kannada Film songs, medleys, folk songs and Kannada Sugama Sangeeta. They were ably supported by  Jeetu, Subhod, Akhil and Anand who provided wonderful background music.   Surprise of the programme was a melodious, romantic Kannada song “Elliruve Manava Kaaduva rupasiye” beautifully sung by Harish Sherigar, MD of ACME Group.

A brief stage programme was held to felicitate Sponsors, Guests, programme supporters, Media partners, Dancers and Singers. Mohamed Mustaffa of Essar Group, Satheesh Venkataramana of Chilly Willy Trading, B.M. Jafer of Thonse Healthcare, Harish Sherigar of ACME , Shodhan Prasad of Nama Tuluveru, Kannada Koota’s President Sadan Das, Directors Aruna Mutugadar, Mallikarjuna Gowda, Virendra babu, Uma Vidyadar and Sandeep Kumar Vale.

In the venue outside were stall of Radhe O Radhe selling mouth watering snacks and juices  and also a counter distributing raffle coupons who later conducted draw with various prizes distributed to the winners.

The programme was ably hosted by Krishna Kumar.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter distributed Food Kits for Indian expatriates labors who were in trouble due to Corona lockdown on April 6, 2020 at a labor camp here in Al Khobar.

The labors, most of them are from the staes of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh And Uttar Pradesh, were in trouble without food.

 Recieving the information leaders of Indian Social Forum immediately visited the camp to take survey.

Indian Social Forum with the help of donors distributed food kits. Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka Chapter president Mr.Mohammed Shareef Jokatte expressed gratitude for donors for their contribution.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.
