Blue Stars Dammam wins Expertise Cup – 2013

Jubail, May 21: Blue Stars Dammam won by 4 runs against Al Falah Jubail in the finals of Expertise Cup – 2013, a knockout cricket tournament organised by Expertise Contracting Company at Jubail.

Al Falah won the toss and invited Blue Stars to bat first. Blue Stars openers failed to give good start against fine blowing from Al Falah. They lost two vital wickets when the score was 45 in sixth over. At this situation good striker of the ball Majeed joined Imran and both played magnificently and smashed Al Falah bowlers all over the ground. The duo added valuable 44 runs in just 12 balls. At the end Blue Stars were able to have economical total of 89 in allotted 8 over. Majeer remained not out with 28 runs while Imran scored 20.

Chasing a target of 90 runs, Al Falah opener played brilliantly and scored 43 runs in 4 over with one wicket loss. Tauseef, who took the challenge, destroyed Blue Stars bowling.

However, gradually, Al Falah batsmen found it very difficult to score runs against fine bowling performance by Shameem and left hander Haris, as they lost two good wickets in this crucial stage of the game. Al Falah scored 71 runs in sixth over. In the remaining 12 balls Al Falah needed another 19 runs to win the finals. Al Falah middle order batsman tried to score required run but succeeded to score only 15 runs taking the total score of the team to 86 in allotted 8 over. Blue Stars won the match by 4 runs.

Earlier in the first semifinals Blue Stars won the match against Eastern Blues by 4 runs. Batting first, Blue Stars scored 83 and in reply Eastern Blues were able to reach 79. In the second semifinals Nexus made 76 runs and in reply Al Falah easily reached target of 77.

Tauseef, of Al Falah awarded with Best Batsman and Man of the Tournament for his all-round performance throughout the tournament.  Fayaz of Al Falah of Awarded with best bowler of the Tournament.

The organizer awarded the teams and players with winners / runner up and individual trophies.

As many as 16 teams from the Eastern Region took part in this two week-long tournament.

The management and tournament organizing committee of Expertise Contracting Company, thanked all the teams for their participation and support while conducting this tournament.

Dubai: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club (KSCC) distributed Eid Kit across the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah to the ) needy people on Eid al Fitr.

KSCC President Mr. Mohammed Ismail Said: “Eid is a Symbol of Gratitude and Unity. As the last few weeks have been hard for each one of us, we wanted to stand in solidarity to celebrate Eid, by helping labours and needy people. He also said that “We are together to be part of UAE. Serving these meals is our core social responsibility."

KSCC recently conducted humanitarian services during COVID-19 pandemic in 2 phases and conducted Blood Donation Drive. They have also planned to conduct next Blood Donation Drive on 25th May, 2020.

The KSCC main objective is to develop the expatriate community into a well-nourished section of society in the areas of social, sports and cultural activities.

On behalf of KSCC, and the entire executive council Mr. Mohammed Ismail, President of Club, extended a very heartly thanks and gratitude to the Main sponsor of the event M/s. EMSQUARE, Engineering Consultant, and Tawakkal Overseas Dubai.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) organized Blood Donation Camp at Latifa Hospital, Oud Mehta Dubai on April 23rd, 2020 in association with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and with support from Community Development Authority (CDA) Government of Dubai.

Blood Donation Drive started in the morning at 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Around 48 people participated in this drive and donated blood to support the Dubai Blood Bank.

A potential shortage of blood for transfusions has been occurred due to a significant reduction in voluntary blood donations during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic, health services are now running with shortages of blood availability. To support the DHA Blood Bank KSCC taken initiative to ensure that blood donations continued and are safe for both the donor and the recipient.

After taking safety precaution and safe distance during the blood donation donors feeling happy and honored to participate and donate blood at this pandemic situation. Club Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi was also present during this event.

KSCC appreciated all the blood donors and be grateful to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Community Development Authority (CDA), and Government of Dubai for their association for this event. They also thanked the volunteers and supporters.

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.
