Konkan Bells Belthangady celebrates feast of nativity in Dubai

Dubai, Sep 16: Konkan Bells, a Belthangady deanery association in Dubai celebrated the feast of Nativity of Mother Mary, at Bangalore Empire Restaurant, Karama, Dubai on September 13.

Fr. Simon D'Souza, Parish Priest of St. Francis Xavier Church, Indabettu Parish, Beltangady was the Chief Guest of Honour who led the religious celebration and blessed the new paddy-sheaves sourced from Mangalore during the celebration.

Children and adults participated in the showering of flower cession with a good number. Fr. Simon conveyed the message of the feast and blessed the gathering. Further there was a stage programme and James Mendonca, Walter and Letitia Pereira and Fr. Simon were the guests of Honour. President Remigius D’Souza welcomed the guests and the whole gathering.

Fr Simon speaking during the stage programme said that he was happy to see the parishioners of different parishes under Beltangady deanery who are working in Dubai are celebrating the feast of Infant Mary to promote brotherhood in their midst. He also commended the pooling of resources by Konkan Bells in order to help the less fortunate brethrens in back home to pursue studies of economically-weaker brethrens. He also assured his prayers in this regard.

President and the secretary presented the slide show of the achievements by Konkan Bells to the gathering.

Konkan Bells promoter Walter Pereira urged the members to join in making the organization a role model to the society by social welfare and philanthropic activities.

Fr Simon was felicitated by draping the shawl and presented with memento on the occasion.

There were various cultural entertainment programme arranged by Konkan Bells delighted the gathering. Many spot excited prizes were distributed to the winners. There was a Lucky Draw with 10 excited prizes.

Godwin and Preema compeered the whole programme smoothly while Secretary, Rohan D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks. On the whole the programme was well organized and attracted the huge gathering.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.

Dubai: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club (KSCC) distributed Eid Kit across the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah to the ) needy people on Eid al Fitr.

KSCC President Mr. Mohammed Ismail Said: “Eid is a Symbol of Gratitude and Unity. As the last few weeks have been hard for each one of us, we wanted to stand in solidarity to celebrate Eid, by helping labours and needy people. He also said that “We are together to be part of UAE. Serving these meals is our core social responsibility."

KSCC recently conducted humanitarian services during COVID-19 pandemic in 2 phases and conducted Blood Donation Drive. They have also planned to conduct next Blood Donation Drive on 25th May, 2020.

The KSCC main objective is to develop the expatriate community into a well-nourished section of society in the areas of social, sports and cultural activities.
