Gangolli-Riyadh Jamaat celebrate Eid-ul-Adha

Riyadh, Oct 31: The Riyadh unit of Gangolli Muslim Jamaat organized its biggest event of the year – ‘Eid Ul Adha Event 2013’ at Al Azizia Resort here few days ago, where arrangements were made for animal sacrifice (Qurbani).

The programme began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Faeeza Rahman. Soon after the Qiraat, Fazlu Rahman Kolkar, President of Riyadh Jamaat welcomed all the guests and gave a brief introduction about the Riyadh unit of Gangolli Welfare. Treasurer Abdussalaam Kolva read the yearly report.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Firoz Mulla, Assistant Principal of Al Wurood International School, Jeddah spoke about the benefits of being a member of an association and the importance of charity, donation and helping hand for needy people.

A Naat competition was conducted for the children, after the key-note address. A special cricket tournament was organised on the occasion, and the prizes were sponsored by Kolkar M Jaffer, Toufeeq and Abdussalaam. Various other games had also been organised for the gathering. Bumper prizes were sponsored by Kolkar Jaffer and Moulana Abu Mohammed.

Outdoor games such as tug-of-war, running race, frog race and musical chairs were conducted by ladies and children. Attractive prizes were given to the winners of competitions.

Riyaz Masni and Nasrulla Shaikh compered the programme. All the expenses of the event were shared by the well-wishers of the Jamaat.

The food was arranged by Moulana Abu Mohammed, Shaikh Jaffer, Bhatkal Ibrahim and team.

Markaz Al Madeena Association, Eastern province, conducted JALS-E-UCHILA get together program at Dammam, Saudi Arabia on March 5,2020 on account of celebrating 28 years of social service dedicated by the organization.

The event chairman Noushad Uchil inaugurated the function. The organization president presided the program and delivered talk about the intention of the organization. Hashim Uchil has intorduced the social and academic contribution of the organization of past 28 years. Jamal Uchil welcomed the gathering and Ismail G.I. host the program.

Games, Quiz and prize distribution to the winners and senior social workers was the special attraction of the event. The planning committee of the event includes Iqbal, Farooq, Shahul Hameed, Ramza, Nabeel, Afthar, Ashraf and Shafi.

Dubai: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club (KSCC) distributed Eid Kit across the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah to the ) needy people on Eid al Fitr.

KSCC President Mr. Mohammed Ismail Said: “Eid is a Symbol of Gratitude and Unity. As the last few weeks have been hard for each one of us, we wanted to stand in solidarity to celebrate Eid, by helping labours and needy people. He also said that “We are together to be part of UAE. Serving these meals is our core social responsibility."

KSCC recently conducted humanitarian services during COVID-19 pandemic in 2 phases and conducted Blood Donation Drive. They have also planned to conduct next Blood Donation Drive on 25th May, 2020.

The KSCC main objective is to develop the expatriate community into a well-nourished section of society in the areas of social, sports and cultural activities.

Dubai, Aug 7: One may call it good luck, but for two Indian expats it was God who prevented them at the last minute from boarding the Air India Express plane that crashed in Kerala, killing at least 18 people on board.

According to India's Civil Aviation Ministry, the Boeing 737 aircraft on a flight from Dubai to Kozhikode overshot the runway at Kozhikode airport on Friday evening. There were 184 passengers including 10 infants, 2 pilots and four cabin crew onboard the aircraft.

Noufal Moin Vetten, an Ajman resident working as an office boy in a Sharjah school, was booked to travel on the flight and had checked in as per schedule.

Recounting his miraculous escape, Vetten, a resident of Malappuram, Thirunavaya, whose visa was cancelled a week ago, told Gulf News: “I was handed my boarding pass, but when I reached immigration, they told me I had to pay a fine of Dh 1,000 (Rs 20,430) for overstay. I had only Dh 500 (Rs10,215) with me.

"I called my school PRO and he told me to come back. He said they would follow protocols and pay the fines before sending me,“ he said.

Vetten was disappointed and called his family to let them know.

“When I heard about the crash, I was saddened for all the passengers. But I'm so relieved I missed it. God has been really merciful,” said Vetten.

Afsal Parrakodan, a resident of Abu Dhabi, had a similar stroke of luck.

“My work visa was cancelled about a week ago. After getting my boarding pass, I was told I had to pay a fine of Dh1,000 at the immigration counter, but I had only Dh500 on me.”

“I was very keen to board the flight and be with my family. So I called a friend who brought me the additional Dh500, but by then, my baggage had been offloaded and the flight's doors were closed,” said Parrakodan.

“I was feeling very sad and called my mother to tell her I had missed the flight. But a few hours later, when I learnt of the crash, I couldn’t help but feel relieved and thankful to God for saving my life,“ said an overwhelmed Parrakodan who plans to fly back next week.
