40 is just another number for Sourav Ganguly

So what if Sourav Ganguly decides to play in IPL 6? He will still be a 'youth' when IPL begins next season. At 40, Ganguly still feels there's enough cricket left in him, and the failure as the Pune Warriors captain was just another bad phase.

"I'm also a human and prone to failures," is how he reacts to the poor IPL 5 outing. So, when most of his fellow mates have decided to take over as mentors, Ganguly is still in two minds. To play or not to play, is the question!

In a press conference last May, Rahul Dravid had in a way made it clear that once Rajasthan Royals find an alternative, he would happily focus on his job as a mentor.

"l will take a few months' break now and then decide after consultations with the team management what my role will be. My goal is to try and develop young players," Dravid had said.

Just a year younger to Ganguly, Dravid may just be seen donning the mentor's hat next season. It won't be a surprise. The Wall has time and again admitted that he has no problem in acting as the mentor.

Anil Kumble has already taken over as a mentor for Royal Challengers Bangalore, VVS Laxman has decided to give the million-dollar league a miss, perhaps realizing that its time to leave the baton to the fresh legs.

But for the Prince of Calcutta, 'age is just a number'. For a man, whose first love has been cricket; it's difficult to completely switch off from it. And, perhaps, that's why he always talks positive, when it comes to his game.

The kind of humiliation and toil the gentleman has gone through, any man would have made up his mind to call it a day, but Ganguly is different. "I will take a call next season. As a matter of fact, I would not be even 41 when the IPL 6 would begin in 2013," he says.

Still having a year's contract left with the Pune Warriors, the former India captain is still unsure about his next step in the world of IPL.

But, the gentleman, who turned 40 on Sunday, would in all probabilities want to leave IPL on a high. So, next year even if you see him back in action, don't get surprised, because for Dada, "life is simple" and age is just a number!

Los Angeles, Feb 14: Tributes to the late Kobe Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers legend who died last month in a helicopter crash, will play a major role in Sunday's 69th NBA All-Star Game.

This year's annual showcase of league talent will be played in Chicago and feature numerous nods to Bryant, a five-time NBA champion who also matched a league record with four NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player awards.

Bryant, an 18-time NBA All-Star, died at age 41 on January 26 in a crash near Los Angeles that also took the life of his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others.

All-Star teams guided by LeBron James of the Lakers and Greek star Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks will compete to win each of the first three quarters, which will all start 0-0 and last 12 minutes.

At the start of the fourth quarter, the clock will be turned off and a final target score will be established by taking the leading club's cumulative score through the first three quarters and adding 24 points -- the number representing the jersey number worn by Bryant for the final 10 seasons of his NBA career.

The first team to reach the cumulative target score will win the NBA All-Star Game.

All-Star Game jerseys will also honor Bryant and his daughter.

Team Giannis players will wear jersey number 24 in tribute to Kobe while Team LeBron players will wear jersey number two, the number his daughter wore when playing youth basketball.

Both teams will wear jersey patches displaying nine stars, representing the nine people who were killed in the crash.

Academy Award-winning actress and Grammy Award-winning singer Jennifer Hudson, a Chicago native, will perform a special tribute to Bryant, his daughter and the others who were killed in the crash. Her performance will begin the night ahead of the player introductions.

James and Antetokounmpo each chose their squads from available starters and reserves voted and selected to the All-Star contest.

Team LeBron starters will include James, his Lakers teammate Anthony Davis, NBA scoring leader James Harden of Houston, Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers and Slovenian guard Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks.

Team Giannis starters include the Greek big man, Cameroon stars Joel Embiid of Philadelphia and Pascal Siakam of Toronto and guards Kemba Walker of Boston and Trae Young of Atlanta.

A record eight All-Star Game players from outside the United States also include Frenchman Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz on Team Giannis and Team LeBron reserves Ben Simmons of Australia and the Philadelphia 76ers, Lithuanian Domantas Sabonis of Indiana and Serbian Nikola Jokic of Denver.

Feb 13: Veteran India batsman Suresh Raina feels Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the best captain India ever had.

Raina and Dhoni play for the same IPL franchise -- the Chennai Super Kings --, which is also led by the latter.

"I think we have the best captain who has changed the Indian team like anything. Now we have that same aura in our dressing room," Raina said on 'The Super Kings show' on Star Sports Tamil.

The 38-year-old Dhoni has retired from Test cricket but his future in the limited overs formats is a subject of intense speculation.

The two-time World Cup-winning former captain took a break from cricket after India's exit from the 2019 World Cup in England. He is set to be back in action at the IPL, where he will captain the CSK, starting March 23.

With three restricted stands at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai finally being reopened, Raina urged the fans to fill the venue in every CSK home game.

"We have all the seats available. Hopefully, we'll have more fans now so that there is it will be more energy on the field," the 33-year-old Raina, a former India batsman, said.

Raina, who last played for India in 2018, also expressed his excitement about the prospect of playing with CSK's latest acquisitions.

"This year we have a lot of new talent in our team. Piyush (Chawla) is there, then we have Hazelwood, Sam Curran, Sai Kishore from Tamil Nadu, he has been bowling really well for them. So, I think we have a lot of mixture of youngsters and seniors."
