Belagavi, Jul 5: Karnataka Minister for Urban Development U T Khader, denying allegations by the Opposition party that completion of Smart City work was slowed down purposely, said that steps were taken to speed up the works and take the State to Second or Third position from the present fifth in the Country.
Speaking to newsmen after review meeting with Smart city officials here on Friday, he said that the State government is taking steps to further hasten the works and improve the rank of project implementation in the top three in the next six months.
He said that Smart city project was delayed due to tough rules and procedures of the Central government. At the initial stage, the objection of MLAs and MPs for excluding from the Smart city committee also caused the delay. Under this project State and Centre both contribute Rs 100 crores for the development of Cities selected.
