
The 13-day long exhibition-cum-sale was inaugurated by Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in the premises of Hotel Woodlands on Wednesday.
The Fair is being organized by the Ministry for Development of North Eastern Region Government of India, in association with the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Limited.
About 150 crafts persons from eight North Eastern States practicing in different crafts are displaying their crafts objects and also giving live demonstration of a few selected crafts in the Fair.
According to a press release issued by the organisers stated that the objectives of the exhibition are to promote sales of handicrafts and handlooms, to increase awareness in favour of handlooms and handicrafts, to expose crafts persons and weavers to the outside market, to launch new products/designs for trial and promotion and to eradicate the Intermediary / Middleman in handlooms and handicrafts sector.
