Mumbai, Oct 19: A legal notice has been issued against yesteryear actress Sharmila Tagore and her actor-son Saif Ali Khan for organising a cocktail party at Pataudi palace without obtaining prior permission from the state Election Commission.
The notice was issue to Sharmila and Saif by Returning Officer-cum-Sub Divisional Magistrate, Pataudi, Virender Chaudhary on the direction of Ajai Shankar Pandey, election observer for the Pataudi Assembly constituency.
Loudspeakers and firecrackers were used and it caused disturbance to the local residents.
"We got complaints from nearby residents mentioning that firecrackers and loud speakers were being used in the premises of the Pataudi palace which were disturbing them. On the basis of these complaints, we have issued notice to them under violation of Pollution Act," SDM said.
Saif and Sharmila have been asked to explain their conduct by 3 p.m. on October 21.
According to the directions of the Election Commission of India, the Model Code of Conduct is applicable in Haryana up to October 22.
