Opposition targets govt over reports about Rajnath's son

August 27, 2014

New Delhi, Aug 27: The opposition today targeted the government over media reports that claimed Home Minister Rajnath Singh's son had been ticked off by the Prime Minister for alleged misconduct, with Congress questioning what the allegations are about.

Congress General Secretary and Media Department Chairperson Ajay Maken said that the Prime Minister's Office had tweeted to say that rumours against Rajnath Singh's son are plain lies.Rajnath-Singh

"The strange thing is that when as opposition party Congress has not levelled any allegations against his (Rajnath's) son, so the country and the Congress party want to know Rajnath Singh ji,....Prime Minister you should first of all tell what are the allegations against the son, that you are denying," Maken told reporters here.

Referring to the Home Minister's statement that he would quit politics if any misconduct on his or his family's part is proved, he said the Congress party wants to know what the allegations are.

"With a lot of humility, the Congress party also wants to know from Rajnath Singh, that when it, the principal opposition party had not levelled any such allegations, then who has made these allegations," Maken said.

CPI leader D Raja said the clarification by the PMO and the Home Minister was "too late and too little" as reports have been appearing in national dailies for days together.

"Without any fire, there cannot be any smoke. It shows there are lot of things....there is internal strife....the politics is changing," he said. Raja said it is RSS which dictates what BJP should or should not do.

JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav, however, came out in support of Rajnath Singh and said the Home Minister is spotless. Similar views were expressed by NCP leader D P Tripathi.

"It is good that the PMO has clarified. I have known Rajnath Singh for so many years. He is not the kind of person who would even think of such a thing. Forget about doing it. Even his family members would never think of such a thing," said Tripathi.

Samajwadi Party (SP) also came in support of the Home Minister with party leader Gaurav Bhatia saying that "nobody has any doubts regarding the impeccable reputation Rajnath Singh has".

"But, at the same time, the clarification does not help, rather it complicates the whole issue. The clarification itself relies on rumours. So the greater question today that everyone is asking is that what were the rumours," he said.

"The people want to know about the rumours. Definitely we have seen that there has been centralisation of power in the BJP....," Bhatia said.

Meanwhile, BJP rubbished the media reports about "alleged misconduct" of Rajnath Singh's son.

"I believe the government has taken a step....The things have been put to rest absolutely....in the sense all the rumour mongers have been nailed and whoever is doing so must have got a befitting reply to this by now," party spokesperson Sambit Patra said.

He dismissed suggestions of financial irregularity on the issue. "Where was the financial irregularity? When the Prime Minister's office has denied, when Rajnath Singh has denied so the kind of speculation that was going on, the kind of rumours that were going on, they were rumours....They were not true," he said.

The PMO had earlier said, "The reports are plain lies, motivated and constitute a malicious attempt at character assassination and tarnishing the image of the Government. Those indulging in such rumour-mongering are damaging the interest of the nation. These reports are strongly denied."

Feb 4: Amid the agitations against Citizenship Amendment Act, National register of Citizens and National Population Registration across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that there is a "political design" behind all these protests including in Delhi's Jamia and Shaheen Bagh to ruin the harmony of the nation.

"Be it Seelampur, Jamia or Shaheen Bagh, protests held over the past several days regarding the Citizenship Amendment Bill. Is this just a coincidence? No. This is an experiment," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his first election rally for Delhi polls at Karkardooma.

"There is a political design behind all these protests including Jamia and Shaheen Bagh. These protests are a conspiracy to divide India. These protests are going to ruin the harmony of the nation," he asserted.

Lambasting the opposition parties including Congress and Aam Aadmi Party for supporting the ongoing protests, he said: "But AAP and Congress are provoking people. Constitution and tricolor are being kept in front and attention is being diverted from the real conspiracy."

"These people were doubting the ability of our forces during surgical strikes. Do citizens of Delhi want such people in power? These people are saving those who want to break India into pieces," he added.

People have been protesting at Jamia and Shaheen Bagh against CAA, NRC and NPR. Members of the Opposition have deemed CAA "discriminatory and anti-Constitution" while the Centre has maintained that the new law has no effect on Indian citizens.

Recently, two firing incidents took place near Jamia Millia Islamia University. On Sunday night, the firing incident was reported near gate number five at the university following which people including some students of the varsity gathered outside the Jamia Nagar police station. They returned from the Jamia Nagar police station after their complaint was registered.

Earlier, a student sustained injuries after a young man fired at the protestors near Jamia.

Once again incorrect statement and only to divert people attention.  Every one knows who is ruining image of our nation.   this govt has completely failed in all aspects and trying to survive by misguiding the citizens.  Economy is reaching zero and GDP is coming down day by day, Banks and industries on getting closed. youths are unemployed due to no chance.   However, Govt is giving false statement that nothing to worry and our economy if growing.   this govt has brought black bills of CAA and MPR only to divide the society and keep them engaged and forget the falling economy.   If this situation continues, our nation will be one of the poorest countries in the world.   This govt is trying to sell all Govt hold units like Railway, Insurance, etc to private companies only to help the industrialists and to get commission from them.    LIC was running in profit till 4 to 5 years back, but now its running in loss.   Huge amount of money from LIC is taken by Govt to hide the downfall of economy.   Only God can save our country from the hands of present looters + decoits.

Srinagar, Jun 30: On the deadly attack at Karachi Stock Exchange on Monday morning, a Kashmiri social activist and journalist warned that the incident is a stark reminder to all those in Pakistan supporting Jihad and attacked Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan for ignoring development agenda in Balochistan.

Yana Mir, the editor-in-chief of The Real Kashmir News, said, "Karachi Stock Exchange attack is a reminder to all those in Pakistan supporting Jihad. Remember @imrankhan that Youth is restless and they want development agenda. These young boys of BLA are also looking for a life which is settled and peaceful. Wake up Imran Khan and you Kashmiris also. Pakistan is going to finish you. Open your eyes."
Four heavily armed terrorists attacked the busy Pakistan Stock Exchange building in Karachi with grenades today, killing four security guards and a police officer before being shot dead in an exchange of fire, authorities said.

The terrorists, who arrived in a car, stormed the Karachi Stock Exchange building by firing indiscriminately and lobbed grenades at the main gate of the multi-storey building situated in the city's high-security commercial hub.

Balochistan is a well-known region rich in natural resources but the Balochis have always been deprived of basic facilities. No hospitals are available in Balochistan. If there are some then medical facilities and equipment are not available in hospitals. The education system is pathetic and similar is the case with the infrastructure: the roads, water system, agriculture and almost all fields of life.

It is pertinent to mention that enforced disappearances and abductions by the Pakistani military establishment have also been carried out regularly and for innumerable times in Balochistan. Leaders, activists, and vocal members of various student organizations have been detained by the security forces and kept in confinement. While others have been shot dead.

This crime against humanity has been going on for so long and so systematically in Balochistan that it has come to be considered as a normal state of affairs in the province. Many social and human rights activists have flagged the issue of oppression by the Pakistani establishment before the United Nations and other international agencies.

According to the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, an entity established by the Pakistani government, about 5,000 cases of enforced disappearances have been registered since 2014. Most of them are still unresolved.

Independent local and international human rights organisations put the numbers much higher. Around 20,000 have reportedly been abducted only from Balochistan, out of which more than 2,500 have turned up dead as bullet-riddled dead bodies, bearing signs of extreme torture.

Before being elected as Prime Minister, Imran Khan had admitted in multiple interviews about the involvement of Pakistan's intelligence agencies in enforced disappearances as well as extrajudicial killings and vowed to resign if he was unable to put an end to the practice, holding those involved responsible. But times have passed and only reports are available to narrate the true story.
