‘Order of Courage’ for brave Saudi security men

Riyadh, Jan 12: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior, has ordered that the Order of Courage be conferred on all security personnel who participated in an operation that resulted in the elimination of wanted terrorists Tayea Salem bin Yaslam Al-Sayari and Talal bin Samran Al-Saedi in Riyadh on Saturday morning.

SbraveThe crown prince also ordered the promotion for three security men who participated in the operation.

The crown prince also telephoned Cpl. Gibran Jaber Awagy, who is receiving treatment at the Security Forces Hospital in Riyadh for an injury sustained in the operation.

During the call, the crown prince was reassured of the state of health and medical care the patient was receiving at the hospital. He also conveyed him the greetings of King Salman for his early recovery.

Crown Prince Mohammed praised the efforts of Awagy and his colleagues to defend their motherland and for their valor displayed during the operation.

Meanwhile, Riyadh Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar received at his office security men who participated in the gunbattle against the terrorists in Al-Yasmin district in northern Riyadh.

Addressing them, Prince Faisal said: “You were sincere and brave in your work. You are everybody’s pride. Now we see our security operations getting coverage by the global media gaining praise in countries, some of which were ahead of us in training and follow up. But we have preceded them in many matters with firmness, resolve sincerity and loyalty in such situations.”

Later Monday, the governor visited Awagy on hospital. He wished him speedy recovery.

What Awagy and his colleagues carried out was “a heroic act” that was executed precisely and diligently, Prince Faisal said.

Dubai, May 14: As many as 242 beggars of different nationalities have been nabbed by the Dubai Police since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

Among those arrested, 143 were men, 21 were women and 78 were hawkers, said the police. "An anti-begging campaign was launched, especially to find beggar hotspots, to combat the negative phenomenon," said Colonel Ali Salem Al Shamsi, director of the anti-infiltrators department at the Dubai Police.

"Strict warnings have been issued to beggars to refrain from exploiting the sentiments of people during Ramadan," he added.

Col Al Shamsi also called on the public to stop helping them with money. "The public must direct those in dire straits through proper channels in order to get support from charitable institutions."

Col Al Shamsi also urged residents to report begging activities by calling 901 or through the Dubai Police app's 'Police Eye' feature.

Dubai, Jul 15: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the launch of a 'New Media Academy in Dubai on Monday - a new institution that will train people on the science of digital media.

Taking to Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed said that new media is a new science that has its own set of special tools and secrets, and that the future cadres of UAE must be at the forefront of it.

"The academy will prepare new experts and managers in the field of communication in government and private institutions, as well as training professional social media influencers", Sheikh Mohammed tweeted, adding that the new media is providing new job opportunities and careers today, and will always be a main supporter in the journey of development.

Dubai, May 2: Saudi Arabia has confirmed 1,362 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of COVID-19 patients in the country to 25,459, the Ministry of Health reported Saturday.

In the daily media briefing, the ministry announced 7 more deaths and 210 new recoveries, raising the total number of fatalities and recoveries to 176 and 3,765, respectively.

Out of the 1,362 new cases reported today, 249 were confirmed in Medina, 245 in Jeddah, 244 in Mecca, 161 in Riyadh, in addition to 126 infections in Dammam, 81 in Khobar and 80 in Jubail.

Dr. Mohammed Al Abd Al Aly, spokesman for Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health reiterated that so far there was no evidence that hot weather will curtail the spread of coronavirus.

Authorities continue to urge people to stay at home unless necessary despite having relaxed some restrictions and curfews at the start of Ramadan.
