Paid Rs 1,700-cr in bribe to politicians, bureaucrats, mullahs: IMA boss Mansoor Khan

Bengaluru, Aug 5: Mohammed Mansoor Khan, the founder of notorious I-Monetary Advisory (IMA), was too generous in paying bribes if reports are to be believed.

Khan, the prime accused in multi-billion Ponzi scheme has reportedly told his investigators that he has paid around Rs 1,750 crore in bribe to politicians and bureaucrats from central and state governments, besides local leaders including influential Muslim clerics.

“A politician from Bengaluru has received around Rs 410 crore from Khan, besides monthly protection money of Rs 5 crore. A police officer received Rs 1 crore a month in protection fee for 13 successive months. Also, the cop took 10kg gold and diamond ornaments. The politician forced Khan to give Rs 2 crore each to five corporators,” a source privy to Khan’s interrogation said.

Khan reportedly bore the wedding expenses of the politician’s son and bought air tickets for his friends attending the event.

“The politician returned only a part of it. When Khan pestered him for the remaining amount, he directed two moulvis to spread derogatory messages about Khan. Fearing this, Khan stopped asking the politician for money,” the source said.

“Khan reportedly paid Rs 30 crore to the IPS officer on different days. Once, Rs 12 crore cash was handed in the parking lot of a club near MG Road,” the source added.

Bengaluru, Jul 9: The M Chinnaswamy cricket stadium and the Bengaluru Palace in Karnataka will be converted into a COVID-19 care centre, informed the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) on Thursday.

The Bangalore International Exhibition Centre was also recently converted into a COVID-19 care facility by the state government amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

R Ashoka, the state's COVID management in charge said, "People of Bangalore need not panic. All necessary equipment and preparation are being arranged by the state. We have over 600 ambulances ready to take care of COVID patients."

As per the data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Karnataka now has a total of 28,877 COVID-19 cases, including 16,531 active cases and 11,876 recoveries.

470 people have died of the infectious virus in the state so far.

Belagavi, Mar 14: After the first COVID-19 related death reported in the state, less number of people are travelling in North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) buses, official sources said here.

There were less number of travellers on Saturday as compared to any other day.

According to sources, many passengers cancelled their reservations to major cities like Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Goa and Kalaburagi too.

Bagalkot, April 7: A group of villagers on Monday attacked three Muslim men at Bidari village in Bagalkot district accusing them of being responsible for the spread of coronavirus in the country.

The three men belonging to Mahalingapura village were walking on the road when they were attacked with sticks by people even when they said that they were nowhere connected to Tablighi Jamaat.

This incident happened within the limits of Mudhol Police Station.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Lokesh Jagasalar said that the police is investigating the matter and no one will be spared who all are involved in this act.

"No one will be spared and we have taken the incident seriously and finding whoever harassed three Muslim men, at no cost the incident be defended by anyone, it was unexpected and case will be booked and stringent action will be taken against those who are involved in the incident," Lokesh told news agency.
