T Narasipur, Aug 3: D Prahaladhacharya, former vice chancellor of Sanskrit University, Tirupati, took charge as the 41st head of Sosale Mutt, on Sunday.

In a ceremony organised at Seshachandrika Brindavan, Prahaladhacharya was renamed as Vidyasreesha Theertha.

Earlier in the day, Prahaladhacharya took a holy dip at the confluence of River Cauvery, Kabini and Spatika Sarovara and entered sainthood (sanyasadeeksha).

Minister for Muzrai Rudrappa M Lamani said that all the controversies surrounding the mutt had been resolved. The state government will hand over the administration to mutt authorities after a few days, he said.

Vidyamanohar Theertha Swami, Shubhadendra Theertha Swami of Raghavendra Mutt, successor Vidyavijaya Teertha, former Chief Justice of India M N Venkatachaliah and others were present.

Team B-Human distributes Ramadan kits in Puttur

Puttur, May 9: City based Team B-Human today distributed Ramadan kits among 70 families in Koodu Raste Jamaat and 30 families in Papetthadka Jamaat in Puttur taluk.

This was the second phase of Ramadan kit distributions carried out by the Team B-Human. So far the team distributed Ramadan kits among 200 families in three different Jamaat.

Koodu Raste Juma Masjid Khateeb Yaqoob Darimi offered dua before distribution. Team B-Human members Ashraf Aina group, Althaf, Shia Deals, Ahnaf Deals, Abdul Shukoor Haji, and E-Friends founder president Imtiyaz Perla, Saleem U B of Youth Congress, Juma Masjid president P K Mohammad Shafi Papettadka were present.

A release issued by the Team B-Human sated that it distributed food among 35,000 people since April 23. The beneficiaries include a large number of migrant workers irrespective of their caste and religion. It also arranged Iftar and Suhoor for around 450 stranded migrants every day.

Asif Deals, found of Team B-Human, said that in next phases more Ramadan kits will be distributed among needy families in some jamaats.

Mangaluru, May 5: Covid-19 pandemic has caused widespread economic devastation in the country. Many people have lost their livelihood. All sectors of the economy are in distress. Providing relief to the needy is the need of the hour. Responding to this humanitarian crisis, Dakshina Kannada Automobile & Tyre Dealers Association has contributed a sum of Rs. One Lakh towards Covid-19 relief.

Association President Sri Kasturi Prabhakar Pai along with Vice President Sri Harsha Kumar Kedige, Secretary Sri K. Vilas Kumar and Treasurer Sri Maroor Shashidhar Pai handed over two cheques for Rs. 50,000/- each favouring ‘PM Cares’ – the Prime Minister’s Covid-l9 Relief Fund and ‘Chief Minister Relief Fund Covid-l9’ of Karnataka respectively to Smt. Sindhu B. Rupesh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of D. K. District at her office in Mangalore on Monday, May 4, 2020.
