Prathibha Kulai files defamation case against BSY, Shobha, other BJP leaders

Mangaluru, Apr 14: Prathibha Kulai, General Secretary of Karnataka Mahila Congress, has filed a defamation complaint in the Second JMFC Court in Mangaluru against BJP leaders for misusing her name and photograph in their pre-poll political 'Chargesheet' recently released in Bengaluru.

Prathibha, who is also a corporator in Mangaluru City Corporation, has named Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa, MP Shobha Karandlaje, BJP Publishing Cell's Narasimhamurthy and Dinesh Hegde and office-bearers of Rashtrothana Mudranalaya, Bengaluru, as the accused.

The 'Chargesheet' book has used the photograph of Prathibha instead of BBMP member Manjula Narayanaswamy. 

Prathibha has appealed to act against the accused as per IPC Section 500. The hearing of the complaint has been posted to April 19.

Kasaragod, Apr 2: Kerala reported 21 new cases of coronavirus with eight from the worst affected Kasaragod district, taking the tally of active patients to 256, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Thursday.

Besides, Kasaragod, five positive cases have been detected from Idukki, two from Kollam and one each from Thiruvananthapuram, Pathnamthitta, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur, he told reporters here.

At least 1.65 lakh people are under survillence in the state, 643 in various hospitals.

Presently, 256 people are under treatment for the virus in the state where two fatalities have occurred, Vijayan said.

Mangaluru, Mar 30: Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Natekal, has started online tele-consultation service in the constituent Kanachur Hospital & Research Centre amid fear of corona spread.
 
A statement issued here on Monday said, under this service people can contact the doctors sitting in their home. The doctors will give tele-consultation and medical advice for their health problems through WhatsApp. As per the Kanachur Hospital announcement for this purpose the specialist doctors of nine departments will give their tele-consultation from 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs.
 
The people who are not having the social media service (WhatsApp) from rural areas they can directly contact the concerned department specialists over phone by informing the disease details and obtain advises from the doctors through the hospital landline number 0824-2888000.

Com and MBA, University Evening College at University College Mangalore here on Monday, he said that entrepreneurship is something you enjoy. You should belief that there is something in you to achieve your area of choice. You should get pleasure out of it. 

Ex-MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik believed that our population is definitely a resource, but symposiums are needed to convert ideas to implementation. Coastal Karnataka is best example for successful entrepreneurship in health, education sector, he added. 

Presiding over the function, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya said that students should be universally compassionate before being an entrepreneur. There will be challenges, failures in entrepreneurship. One should trust himself, and should have courage and confidence to be innovative. One should have aspiration and passion for excellence, he added.
