New Delhi, Nov 14: President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary party Sonia Gandhi, former President Pranab Mukherjee, former vice-president Mohd Hamid Ansari and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, along with senior Congress leaders on Wednesday, paid tributes India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary.
In a tweet, President Ram Nath Kovind said, 'Remembering Mr Jawaharlal Nehru, our first Prime Minister, on his birth anniversary.'
Paying tributes to Pt Nehru, the PM said, 'Remembering our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary. We recall his contribution to our freedom struggle and during his tenure as Prime Minister.'
Ms Sonua Gandhi, Dr Pranab Mukherjee, Dr Manmohan Singh, Vice-President Mohd Hamid Ansari, along with Leader of the opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad, AICC General secretary Ashok Gehlot, AICC General secretary P C Chacko, Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken and hundreds of Congress leaders and activists paid floral tributes to Pt Jawaharlal Nehru at Shanti Vana.
