Priyanka Chopra To Dine With Barack Obama

Los Angeles, Apr 28: Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has confirmed that she will be dining with US President Barack Obama at the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner this weekend.

priyankaShe was invited to the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner with US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Priyanka, who found global recognition with her character Alex Parrish in the American TV series "Quantico", was earlier "not sure" about attending the dinner due to her work commitments.

Bollywood's 'desi girl' took to Twitter to share the news. The dinner will take place on Saturday.

When a social media asked her, "are you going to the White House on April 30?", she responded, "Yes, I will be attending".

The actress also talked about the shooting of her Hollywood debut "Baywatch".

"Ok, off to set to find my purpose. Fun scene with Zac Efron and The Rock... Going to wear my high heels and bad girl face," she wrote.

Priyanka will be dining with some of Hollywood's biggest names like Will Smith, his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, Kerry Washington, Shonda Rhimes, Kim Kardashian's model sister Kendall Jenner among others.

The non-profit White House Correspondents' Association, whose members include the reporters, producers, camera operators and other journalists regularly covering the White House, traditionally hosts this annual dinner to raise money for journalism scholarships.

Mumbai, Apr 14: Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has thanked Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for providing 25,000 personal protective equipment for health workers.

Khan on Monday provided the personal protective equipment (PPE) kits to the frontline medical staff in Maharashtra fighting to contain the novel coronavirus pandemic in the state.

Tope took to Twitter to thank the actor for the help.

Many thanks Mr. Shah Rukh Khan for your kind contribution of 25,000 PPE kits. This will go a long way in supporting our fight against COVID19 & protecting our frontline medical care team @iamsrk @MeerFoundation @CMOMaharashtra," he tweeted.

The actor and his wife Gauri Khan recently offered their four-storey personal office space for treating COVID-19 patients.

Khan had earlier announced various initiatives to help the country during the crisis.

Mumbai, May 11: Model-cum-actress Poonam Pandey was on Sunday booked by Mumbai Police for violating the coronvirus-induced lockdown norms, an official said.

An FIR was registered against Panedy and a person accompanying her by the Marine Drive Police.

She was found roaming in her high-end car at Marine Drive without any reason, he said.

"A case has been registered against Pandey and Sam Ahmad Bombay (46) under sections 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of a disease dangerous to life) and 188 (Disobedience of order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under provisions of the National Disaster Act," senior police inspector Mrityunjay Hiremath said.

Jan 2: A young filmmaker was allegedly assaulted by an acquaintance during an argument over CAA-NRC in neighbouring Salt Lake City, police said on Wednesday.

The police have arrested the accused following a complaint by the filmmaker.

According to a senior police officer, the argument over the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) began following a social media post by the filmmaker.

The accused allegedly went to the house of the filmmaker on Monday night and picked up an argument, which led to a scuffle.

"During the scuffle, the accused attacked the filmmaker with a knife," the senior police officer said, adding that the accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
