Prof. Madhu Veeraraghavan takes over as TAPMI Director

Manipla, Apr 5: Professor Madhu Veeraraghavan has been appointed as Director of TAPMI. Prof. Veeraraghavan joined the institute in June 2013 and holds the T. A. Pai Chair Professor of Finance. He obtained his B.Com from university of Mumbai and an MBA (Finance & Investments) and PhD (Finance –Asset Pricing) from Australia. Prof. Veeraraghavan was instrumental in setting up the Largest Finance Lab at TAPMI with 16 Bloomberg terminals.

madhuHis teaching interests are Behavioural Finance and Corporate Finance and his research interests are in Asset Pricing, Behavioural Finance, Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance and Funds Management and the interplay between Auditing and Finance.

He has held positions at The University of Auckland Business School and Monash University, Melbourne before joining TAPMI. Prof. Veeraraghavan has published over 50 papers in international journals and has presented his work in top conferences in finance and accounting. His work has appeared in Top ranked Journals such as; The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance and AUDITING: A Journal of Practice and Theory.

Dr. H. S. Ballal, Pro-Chancellor, Manipal University, member of Governing council and Trustee of TAPMI, said that the Management will extend their full support to the new Director. Prof. Veeraraghavan assured to provide his 110% in taking the institute to greater heights. Dr. Gururaj Kidiyoor, the outgoing Director- in charge wished him all the very best for his future endeavors while handing over to the new Director.

Puttur, May 9: City based Team B-Human today distributed Ramadan kits among 70 families in Koodu Raste Jamaat and 30 families in Papetthadka Jamaat in Puttur taluk. 

This was the second phase of Ramadan kit distributions carried out by the Team B-Human. So far the team distributed Ramadan kits among 200 families in three different Jamaat.

Koodu Raste Juma Masjid Khateeb Yaqoob Darimi offered dua before distribution.  Team B-Human members Ashraf Aina group, Althaf, Shia Deals, Ahnaf Deals, Abdul Shukoor Haji, and E-Friends founder president Imtiyaz Perla, Saleem U B of Youth Congress, Juma Masjid president P K Mohammad Shafi Papettadka were present. 

A release issued by the Team B-Human sated that it distributed food among 35,000 people since April 23. The beneficiaries include a large number of migrant workers irrespective of their caste and religion. It also arranged Iftar and Suhoor for around 450 stranded migrants every day.

Asif Deals, found of Team B-Human, said that in next phases more Ramadan kits will be distributed among needy families in some jamaats.

Bengaluru, April 3: Central Crime Branch (CCB) Bengaluru has arrested two persons for allegedly possessing illicit liquor.

The probe team also allegedly seized bottles worth Rs 1.25 lakhs from their possession on Thursday.

A case has been registered against the accused and investigation into the matter is underway, Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police informed news agency.

More details in this regard are awaited.

Madikeri, Jul 24: Water from river Cauvery, which is deemed as holy, and mud from Kodagu, the birth district of river Cauvery was collected and will be sent to Ayodhya for use during groundbreaking (Bhoomi Pooja) ceremony for the construction of Ram Mandir on August 5.

Workers of Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Hindu Jagarana Vedike collected the soil and water from River Cauvery at Talacauvery Kshetra, the birthplace of river Cauvery.

Special pooja was offered at Talacauvery, praying for the timely completion of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
