Programme to mark decennial celebration of Prasthutha held in Dammam

Dammam: As part of the decennial celebration of the Prasthutha fortnightly magazine, its readersforum in Dammam organized “Prasthutha Readers Evening” recently at Paragon Hotel Auditorium.

Greeshma, the young talent and the daughter of Dr. Muralidhar and Dr. Geetha, initiated the program with her melodious song.

Speaking on “Democracy and the Media”, Abdul Razaq Kemmara, the member of editorial board of Prasthutha fortnightly said “Media has now become profit base industry like other business and media which are supposed to bolster the social justice are now operating in accordance with the interest of corporate companies and political parties. In this situation, fortunately some locally started media has still maintained media ethics to bolster the social justice and we are proud to say that Prasthutha fortnightly is also one of such media” Mr. Kemmara said.

Another guest Narendra Shetty, President of MASA Association gave best wishes. Muhammed Shabir, the ex editor of Prasthutha fortnightly gave a preface to the program. Fayaz N., President of Prasthutha Readers Forum, presided over the seminar and delivered the main speech.

Naushad Katipalla, a social activist was honored as “Prasthutha Man of the Year” and presented a shawl and a memento by Abdul Razaq Kemmara. Mr. Imthiaz, President of India Fraternity Forum, Karnataka, released the “Prasthutha Calender – 2016”. Ashraf Kukkaje coordinated the program.

Audience were enthralled during the “Prasthutha Kavya Lahari Kavigoshti”. Senior popular poet Jaleel Mukri hosted this program. Other poets, Abdul Khadar Maravoor, Anwar Mat, Abdul Razaq Kemmara, A.M. ArifJokatte and Fayaz N. also recited poems. All of the poets who participated in this program were honored with the memento.

The awards were given to Shakir Akkarangadi who won the essay competition and NizamuddinTabuk who won the poetry competition held as part of “Prasthutha Readers Evening” program. The awards were also distributed to Nisar Jubail who won first place and Abdul Khadar who won second place in multilingual song competition held for NRIs.

AzaruddinThodar and Ashraf Kukkaje compered the program. Irshad Mangalore delivered vote of thanks.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter distributed Food Kits for Indian expatriates labors who were in trouble due to Corona lockdown on April 6, 2020 at a labor camp here in Al Khobar.

The labors, most of them are from the staes of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh And Uttar Pradesh, were in trouble without food.

 Recieving the information leaders of Indian Social Forum immediately visited the camp to take survey.

Indian Social Forum with the help of donors distributed food kits. Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka Chapter president Mr.Mohammed Shareef Jokatte expressed gratitude for donors for their contribution.
