Public Felicitation of Rev Fr Basil Vas

Moodbidri, May 29: Rev Fr Basil Vas, parish priest of Holy Rosary Church Alangar was felicitated in a public function at Samaja Mandir Moodbidri on 28th May, 2017. The local leaders of all faiths hosted this event for the service of Fr Basil to the society.

The President of the Felicitation was Mr K. Abhay Chandra Jain, MLA Mulki-Mudbidri constituency. Local leaders Mr Jagadish Adhikari, Mr Amarnath Shetty, Mr Abulala, Mr Mohan Alva and religious Leaders Msgr Edwin Pinto, Shri Shri Shri Ishwar Bhat were present along with other priests religious and parishioners of parishes of Moodbidri deanery.

Mr Mohan Alva, director of Alva's education trust gave the inaugural address, wishing Fr Basil Vas for his communitarian work in Moodbidri and areas surrounding. To live as a community of human beings one needs love and community spirit is the need of the day and Fr Basil has worked hard towards this cause he said. We need more leaders like him. He wished him well for his future ministry at Madanthyar Parish.

All the leaders present spoke highly of Fr Basil's work especially in the field of education, community building, parish work and inter-religious harmony. They wished him for his future ministry, that he may continue his good work where he is assigned to go and many more places.

Mr P K Thomas, member of Moodbidri Municipality and president of Akrama Sakrama, welcomed the gathering and Mr L J Fernandes of Alva's education trust thanked everyone for their support in making this program a success. The Felicitation ended with everyone present thanking Fr Basil for his services and wished him well for his future ministry.

Madikeri, Jul 24: Water from river Cauvery, which is deemed as holy, and mud from Kodagu, the birth district of river Cauvery was collected and will be sent to Ayodhya for use during groundbreaking (Bhoomi Pooja) ceremony for the construction of Ram Mandir on August 5.

Workers of Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Hindu Jagarana Vedike collected the soil and water from River Cauvery at Talacauvery Kshetra, the birthplace of river Cauvery.

Special pooja was offered at Talacauvery, praying for the timely completion of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Mangaluru, July 14: Melkar  Women's PU college has achieved excellent pass percentage in II PUC examinations, the results of which were announced today.

As many as 140 students of the college had appeared for second PU board exam 2020 this year. The college secured 95% results in the current academic year.

Among them 24 students passed with distinction and 94 with with first class marks.

Fathima Nisha (558 in Arts),

Zaithunnisa (561 in commerce) and Zainaba ifrath (545 in science) are the toppers of respective sections in the college.

Mangaluru: ‘Team B-Human’, a city based charity organisation, has donated Rs 1 lakh for the treatment of the a three-year-old child from Kinya on the outskirts of the city, who had sustained severe burn injuries.

According to the reports, a cleric at the Kodaje Badriya Juma Masjid, was living in hardship with his wife and two kids and had to recently avail loan to repair his house which was severely damaged due to storm.

To add to his woes, his three-year old son sustained 80% burn injuries after hot water fell on him accidentally. The child is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Derlakatte. The child’s brother is battling kidney related ailment.

A fundraising campaign was recently run on local social media platforms to help the cleric in sustaining in the hardship and to raise fund for the treatment of his son.

Taking note of the viral messages on social media, ‘Team B-Human’ came to the rescue of cleric and donated Rs 1 lakh.

‘Team B-Human’ has also arranged Rs. 70 thousand from its well-wishers which will also be deposited to cleric’s account soon. ‘Team B-Human’ in a release added that it will take care of Batish until he is discharged from the hospital post-treatment. 

Founder of ‘Team B-Human’, Asif Deals, members Basha, Althaf, Sadiq, Shameem and others were present when the cheque of Rs. one lakh was handed over to the cleric.
