Puttur techie Hafiz KA appointed sub-lieutenant of Indian Navy

hafizMangaluru, May 12: A young mechanical engineer from Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district has been appointed as the sub-lieutenant (general service - first grade) of the Indian Navy.

23-year-old Hafiz KA is said to be the only candidate from among 150 engineers from across India who appeared for technical, social, psychological, physical and medical exams held in Coimbatore and Kochi.

Son of health department official K Aboobakar and Ayisha couple, Hafiz is an alumnus of Mountain View English Medium School and Sudana Residential School, and St Philomena College, Puttur.

New Delhi, Mar 11: In the wake of the ongoing political crisis in Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Wednesday said that Bharatiya Janata Party is using Jyotiraditya Scindia to usurp power in the state and that the former Congress leader has "fallen into the trap."

"#BJP is enacting the strategy the way they did in #Karnataka. It is murder of democracy #JyotiradityaScindia has fallen into the trap. He will realise the himalayan blunder very shortly. BJP after using #Scindia will through (throw) him out. I am confident Shri Kamalnath prove majority," he tweeted.

The Chief Minister's comments came at a time of political turmoil in Madhya Pradesh after Scindia and 22 MLAs resigned from the party on Tuesday.

Scindia is likely to join the BJP today.

Mysuru, Jan 5: The ongoing pilot project on documentation of all unprotected monuments in Mysuru taluk has yielded significant results with over 100 sculptures recovered from the rural hinterland.

Launched by the Karnataka Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, the project will help map and document the number of monuments in the Taluk. Based on their importance, they will be added to the protected list.

Sources in the Archaeology department said so far the team has completed mapping of monuments in two Hoblis--Varuna and Jayapura.
