Mangaluru, Mar 22: The State government on Monday told the High Court of Karnataka that A.B. Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district, was not officiating as the DC under the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997 for the district.

ibrahimState Advocate-General Madhusudan R. Naik informed the court that the Additional Deputy Commissioner of the district has been entrusted with the task of DC (Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments) as per the circular issued by the State.

The A-G was responding to the allegation made in a petition that Mr. Ibrahim has been officiating as the DC (Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments) in violation of the Act, which makes it mandatory that a person professing Hindu religion only could be appointed to these posts for discharge of duties under the Act.

The submission was made during the hearing of a petition filed by a devotee of Puttur Mahalingeshwara temple seeking removal from Mr. Ibrahim's name from the invitation card of the temple's annual festival saying that printing of Mr. Ibrahim's name violates the purpose of the Act.

It was also told to the court that Mr. Ibrahim's name was printed on the invitation in his capacity as the DC of the district. However, counsel for the petitioner disagreed with the government's submission and reiterated the allegation that Mr. Ibrahim did discharge the functions of the DC (Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments) in violation of the law.

Following this, Justice A.S. Bopanna, asked petitioner's counsel to submit relevant documents to establish the allegation and adjourned further hearing till March 24.

As I said earlier in the year of 1987 Asst.Commissioner, Revnue Kundapura, Mr. Ashwath Nayarana Gowda was appointed as an administrator for Udipi Jam1ya Masjid. This was ordered by Hon'ble High Court of Karnataka. Both parties of Jamiya Masjid agreed to this court order.

It is very unfair on the part of Hindu Fundamentalist, removing the name of DC, the present moktesar of the Maha Lingeswara Temple of Puttur. MLA Shakuntala played divisive role on this issue. There are many Temples in Coastal Karnataka, Mulki Bappanadu, Kollur Mukambika where muslims are involved for yearly car festivals and in Yellur udupi district, the vadya is managed by Muslims. Almost fire works for the all temples are provided by a family of Bailoor, Karkala Belvai Muslims. Even in Udupi Krishna Temple fire works were supplied by Muslims.

Saffrons/BJP have no other work than divisive politics. Shame Shame..............

Mangaluru, Jun 19: Mohammad Haneef Guddemane, a cattle trader, who was thrashed by the miscreants of Bajrang Dal while legally transporting cattle last weekend, today appeared before media and demanded appropriate action against the assailants.

The attack took place on June 14 at Urwa in the city when he was transporting four buffalos along with all necessary documents. The attack was also captured on a CCTV camp.

The victim, who addressed a press conference today, said that it was not the first time he is transporting cattle as into animal and husbandry for years.

“I had bought 10 she-buffaloes on June 13 from Ranennur and obtained certificate from the local government veterinary doctor after which the animals were brought to my village,” said Haneef, who is a resident of Jokatte on the outskirts of the city.

He said that he was transporting four out of the ten she buffaloes he had bought to the slaughterhouse at Mangaluru on June 14 when a gang of around 15 members which intercepted his vehicles near Urwa police station dragged him out of the vehicle, rained abusive words at him, made blasphemous remarks about his religion, and hit him with a helmet besides kicking him.

He said that three of the assailants were armed with sabre, iron rod and wooden sticks.

"They also tied me to the vehicle and assaulted. They also attacked me with their arms but I escaped. Their plan was to kill me. Fortunately, the police reached the spot and the assailants escaped. However, they thoroughly damaged my vehicle and robbed Rs 7,800 I had with me. I got treated at Highland Hospital in the city," he stated.

Expressing shock over the soft corner approach of the police towards the assailants, he said that only six of around 15 attackers were booked by the police.

“All the accused were let off by the police after registering petty cases. Ironically, the police had not recorded my statement. On the day of attack, they had asked me to sign on a paper. It contained the complaint written by themselves. Hence, on June 17 I visited the Urwa police station and recorded my statement,” he said.

He said that even though he has all the documents pertaining to the cattle that he had purchased, the police had registered false cattle theft charge against him.

New Delhi, Jan 26: On the occasion of the 71st Republic Day, Karnataka state's tableau depicted the philosophy of Basaveshwara and the concept of Anubhava Mantapa (Centre for Experience), which was the socio-religious centre that existed in the present-day Basava Kalyana of Bidar district in Karnataka.

It is regarded as the first religious parliament in the history of mankind.

This 12th-century centre has a special significance in the history of humanity, as it represents composite culture, philosophy, spirituality, equality among other universal human values.

These values were propagated by the saint and social reformer- Basaveshwara and other sharanas- followers of Basava philosophy of the socio-religious movement.

It is significant that representatives of Anubhava Mantapa were nominated based on their spiritual attainment, regardless of caste, class and sect they belonged and thus discarded the differentiation of human beings as higher or lower, on the basis of birth, occupation and gender.

The front part of the tableau has the replica of Basaveshwara preaching his most cherished value - "Work is Worship".

For Republic Day Parade 2020, a total of 56 tableaux proposals (32 from states/UTs and 24 from Ministries/Departments) were received. Out of these, 22 were shortlisted for participation in the Republic Day Parade 2020.
