Puttur: Woman killed as bus hits rickshaw

Puttur, Mar 26: A 55-year-old woman died of injuries after the autorickshaw she was travelling in along with her family members was hit by the private bus near Puttur on Saturday afternoon.

Complainant K. Babu Gowda, his wife Susheela, a relative Kamala, his brother Mohan Gowda and his wife Leelavathi were travelling in the autorickshaw near Aryapu. 

The private bus allegedly being driven in a rash manner from Sullia towards Puttur came on the wrong side of the road and hit the three-wheeler injuring all the occupants. 

A seriously injured Mohan Gowda and Leelavathi (55) were shifted to a Mangaluru hospital where the woman died. The others are being treated in a Puttur hospital.

Mandya, Apr 3: Following the lock down in the country, people habit ventured into Liquor bottles worth several lakhs of rupees have been stolen at two places in the district.

Miscreants targeted a wine store at Chikka Mandya on the outskirts of the town in the early hours and also made away with the stock from a wine store near Hadly Circle in Malavalli town late night on Thursday. The incidents came to light on Friday.

A window was broken open at Chikka Mandya store and a wall was drilled at Malavalli store to take away the cartons, the police said.

Mangaluru, July 14: Melkar  Women's PU college has achieved excellent pass percentage in II PUC examinations, the results of which were announced today.

As many as 140 students of the college had appeared for second PU board exam 2020 this year. The college secured 95% results in the current academic year.

Among them 24 students passed with distinction and 94 with with first class marks.

Fathima Nisha (558 in Arts),

Zaithunnisa (561 in commerce) and Zainaba ifrath (545 in science) are the toppers of respective sections in the college.
