Qatar: KMCA hosts Ladies Day

Doha: The women’s wing of Karnataka Muslim Cultural Association organized a Ladies Day, an event for the women hailing from Karnataka on June 20, at the Indian Cultural Center, Doha, Qatar.

The event received an overwhelming response in the cooking competition with more than 40 entries in the salads, main course and dessert categories. The cuisine was judged by Chef Marcel of Taj Rasoi, Marriott

Aalima Zayeda Usman enlightened the gathering with a sermon on the importance and etiquettes of Ramadan.

Dr. Malini presented a different perspective into the various health stages of womanhood, and our coping mechanism.

The dynamic and talented Mrs. Milan Arun, graced the occasion by being the chief guest, who also distributed the prizes to the various winners of the cooking competition.

The winners of the day in three separate categories are as below:

Salad Category:

1st Place was awarded to Ms. Afiya Munaf

2nd Place was awarded to Ms. Shahnaz Parveen

3rd Place was awarded to Ms. Noor Azra Jameel

 

Main Dish Category

1st Place was awarded to Ms. Rehana Irshad

2nd place was awarded to Ms. Aisha Mohammed

3rd Place was awarded to Ms. Arshia Zafar

Dessert Category

1st Place was awarded to Ms. Shaheela Zahur Shaikh

2nd Place was awarded to Ms. Arshia Zafar

3rd Place was awarded to Ms. Zubaidah Khanum

Chef Marcel was quite impressed by the level of competitiveness in the sheer efforts put into the presentation of the dishes and congratulated all the participants on their culinary strengths.

KMCA President Mr. Niyaz Ahmed presented a memento as a token of gratitude and thanked the chef for his valuable time and expertise.

President Niyaz Ahmed on behalf of the KMCA executive committee thanked and congratulated the newly formed KMCA women's wing comprising of Ms. Masooda Ibraiz Khan, Ms. Masiha Ashfaq, Ms. Aisha Rafique, Ms. Sana Zia-ul-Haq, Ms. Taj Mujeebulla and Ms. Rehana Masum on their dedication and efforts in making this event possible and their commitment to the success of the first ever KMCA Ladies Day.

The evening ended on a gastronomical note, with the gathering getting the opportunity to taste all the homemade delicacies prepared by the contestants.

Manama: Kannada Sangha Bahrain President Mr. Pradeep Shetty and Vice President of Bahrain's prestigious KHK HEROES Foundation Mohammed Mansoor on Monday, May 11, met The Second Secretary (Consular & CW) of the Embassy of India, Bahrain Mr. P. K. Chowdhury in the Indian Embassy. 

The situation, problems and relief of Indians and Kannadigas residing in Bahrain during the COVID 19 Pandemic was discussed in detail. The distribution of food (dry ration) kits, as well as those seeking repatriation, was also discussed in the meeting.

When asked about the repatriation of distressed Kannadigas, the Second Secretary said that though the number of Kannadigas who wish to return home is not much compared to the rest of the states, still Embassy is compiling all the information and will do the needful soon. 

Mr. Shetty and Mr. Mansoor told the Second Secretary that those who are in problem can contact them and they are ready to do their best.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.
