Qatar: KMCA set to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava on Nov 10

Doha: Karnataka Muslim Cultural Association (KMCA), a socio-cultural entity affiliated to Indian Cultural Centre, under the aegis of Embassy of India, Doha, Qatar, is all set to celebrate its mega event ‘Kannada Rajyotsava’ at the Ashoka Hall, Indian Cultural Centre, Doha, Qatar on Friday, November 10, 2017. The program is scheduled to start at 5pm.

The Chief Guest of the event will be Ms. Milan Arun, President of Indian Cultural Centre, Doha, Qatar.

KMCA President Mr. Abdulla Monu announced that renowned artists from Karnataka such as Standup Comedian, Hasya Ratna Mr. Ajay Sarapure, Avariety entertainer Mr. Ananth Tejaswi, The Blind Walking Computer Mr. Basavaraj Umarani and Standup Comedian, Janapada Hasya Saradara, Mr. Jeevan Sab Binnala will be performing on this occasion.

Mr. Ajay Sarapure is a standup comedian, who is renowned as Hasya Ratna has performed all over Karnataka and has gained tremendous reputation. This Rajyotsava, he is set to keep the stage on fire by his amazing comedy skills.

Mr. Tejaswi Ananth is a variety entertainer from Bangalore. He can perform Hand Shadow act, Juggling/Unicycling, Magic shows, 8 ring acts, LED act etc. He can perform 16 different acts. A young and dynamic multi-skilled magician and a multi-talented entertainer knows for sure to amaze audiences with his brilliant skills. He is one of the India's Youngest Juggler/Unicyclist. He has won National award for his magic skills in Juniors category in the year 2011.

He has performed in 9 different TV channels. He was the Guest performer in "India's Biggest Magic Star" in Star One channel. He appeared in TV shows like "Hindustan ke Hunar baaz" in "LIFE OK" and "Entertainment Ke liye kucch be Karega" in "Sony" channel. He has performed more than 600 shows in and across India.

Basavaraj Umarani, The Maths Magician from Belgaum, renowned as The Blind Walking Computer, is another artist who will be performing on this rajyotsava. Completely blind since birth, Basavaraj has never glimpsed the external world, but his mind sees and interprets things that no normal person could ever perceive. He is gifted with a brain of unparalleled capacity. He has immense memory, shocking levels of perception, and mathematical and analytical skills that exceed even the greatest brains in the country. Basavaraj has been recognized by a number of major people and media houses, where he has made appearances in different forms. A long list of awards has found their way to Basavaraj Umarani, including local, state, and national awards.

Mr. Jeevan Sab Binnala is a standup comedian, who has been crowned with the title Janapada Hasya Saradara has performed all over Karnataka and has gained enormous reputation. He is an extraordinary performer, and he is all set to keep the audience amazed with his mind-boggling comedy.

As previous years, KMCA will honor few unrecognized personalities for rendering selfless service to the community and mankind. Words are not enough to explain their service. KMCA President Mr. Abdulla Monu has stated that, this year’s honoring ceremony will be a unique and Eye catching one. KMCA past president and Head of Advisory panel, Mr. Niyaz Ahmed stated that, KMCA is steadfast in its goal to recognize the talented people from corners of Karnataka and providing a platform to showcase their talents to the world.

President of KMCA Mr. Abdulla Monu has appealed to all the expatriate Kannadigas in Qatar to come and witness the spectacular program, and extend their wholehearted support for the success of the event.

In a humanitarian gesture to help fellow citizens in distress, the first in the series of chartered 
flights arranged by Thumbay Group, UAE and the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) Trust, 
Mangalore to repatriate stranded Kannadigas in the UAE took off from Ras Al Khaimah 
International Airport in the wee hours of 21st July 2020. The flight was fully occupied, with 186 passengers, all of them desperate to fly back to India for various reasons.

The initiative was conceived and implemented under the leadership of Dr. Thumbay Moideen - Founder President of Thumbay Group & Founder Patron of BCF and Dr. B K Yusuf, the 
President of BCF. The flight was organized on a purely charitable basis, with all necessary 
steps and precautions in place to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers. Thumbay Group assigned its fleet of buses to transport the passengers free of charge from their residences in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman to the airport. The organizers also provided free meals and refreshments to the passengers, in addition to PPE kits and face-shields distributed free of 
charges.

The passengers on the first flight included many elderly individuals, people with serious 
illnesses like heart-related health issues and diabetes, pregnant ladies and little children as well as people who had lost their jobs and those with expired visas. Dr. B K Yusuf – BCF President, Dr. Kaup Mohammed - BCF General Secretary, other office bearers of BCF, as well as Thumbay Group’s representatives Mr. Farhad C – Director of the Hospitality Division of 
Thumbay Group and Engr. Farwaz P. C. – COO of the Construction Division were present at 
the airport to see off the first group of passengers.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Thumbay Moideen said, “This joint initiative of Thumbay 
Group and BCF is to support our fellow Kannadigas desperate to fly back home. We are happy that we have been able to reach out to many of them, to help them fly home to their families. We thank the Governments of the UAE and India, and the Indian Consulate, Dubai, for their support in making this happen. In the coming days, many more stranded Kannadigas would be repatriated under this joint initiative.”
Dr. B K Yusuf thanked Dr. Thumbay Moideen and the office-bearers and members of BCF for 
their efforts to make the initiative a success.

“We are proud that this initiative has brought relief to many Kannadigas and their families today. BCF is grateful to Thumbay Group for its support and partnership for all our humanitarian programs for the support of the needy.”

Dr. Kaup Mohammed said that it was a matter of pride that the much-awaited Thumbay-BCF 
repatriation flight had been carried out successfully. “Measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the flight and its passengers throughout the journey,” he said. He also thanked all the social organizations including Bhatkal Jamath, BCCI, BWF, KCF, DKSC, Kodagu Kannadigas, 
Kannadiga Help Line, Dubai Konkans and KSS, for their support. He specially thanked Mr. 
Syed Hassan Razeen, the owner of ARISTOCRAT Travels for his support in the ticketing, 
boarding and related processes. On behalf of Milano Optics Group and Maxcare, free gift 
hampers were distributed to selected passengers.

The passengers were received at Mangalore airport under the leadership of Mr. Mumtaz Ali - patron of BCF and other distinguished personalities of Mangalore including Mr. Moidin Bava - former MLA, Mr U. T. Ifthikhar, Mr. S. M. R Rashid - President of BCCI central committee and many others. The passengers were transferred to the hotels where they had registered for the mandatory quarantine.

The second flight under this joint initiative is scheduled to take-off from Ras Al Khaimah airport to Mangalore on 24th July 2020. A few more similar repatriation flights are to soon follow, in the coming weeks.

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.
