Mumbai, Oct 31: Actress Anushka Sharma has said that her co-star Ranbir Kapoor is here to stay and it's refreshing for a young actor like him to have done a variety of roles in the initial years of his career.

Teaming up for the second time after 'Bombay Velvet', Ranbir and Anushka's Karan Johar-directed 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' has managed to garner good business at the box office and may lift up Ranbir's plummeting career graph.

"Ranbir is a very good actor. He has given us some amazing films. I admire him for the choices he made at the beginning of his career. He did films like 'Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year', 'Rajneeti', 'Barfi'. It's refreshing to see a young actor making such kind of choices," Anushka told PTI.

"Sometimes you will have films that will not work and that has happened to everyone. He just went through a phase in which his films did not do well and it's fine. He is an actor, he is a performer. Ranbir is here to stay because of the actor that he is," she said.

The two actors also share a great camaraderie off screen. "Whether you know somebody or you don't know somebody, the outcome has to be the same (referring to on-screen chemistry). You will have to take the same route. When you work with somebody you know then it is comfortable right from the beginning but when you don't know, initially it gets difficult, then you become comfortable," she added.

After doing a heavy duty intense sports drama film 'Sultan', the 28-year-old actress's latest outing was like a breather to her. "Physically 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' wasn't demanding. Every film comes with its own challenges. For me it's important to do different kind of films and genre as I like to keep things interesting for my audience and myself," she said.

"And then to work with Karan Johar who is a super entertaining person, he is a very relaxed director. I was working with Ranbir who is a friend I share a comfortable equation with him. So it was easy and smooth shoot," she said. Also starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, besides Shah Rukh Khan, Fawad Khan and Alia Bhatt in cameo, the film has already clocked Rs 13.30 crore at the box office on day one in India.

Mumbai, Jan 4: After the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur constituted a panel to decide whether legendary poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz's poem 'Hum Dekhenge' is offensive to Hindu sentiments, filmmaker Shoojit Sircar had a cryptic take on the burning controversy.

"Best time for the rich & small businesses to make money as most of the population are engaged with a revolutionary poet named Faiz," Sircar said in a tweet.

The poem, penned down by the iconic poet in 1979, came into limelight again recently during the protests against CAA and NRC in IIT Kanpur.

Earlier on Thursday, senior lyricist Javed Akhtar rejected the claims about the poem being 'anti-Hindu'.

IIT Kanpur on Thursday had set up a committee to look into the issue.

The move came after a complaint that the students who took out a peaceful march in the campus on December 17 against the Citizenship Amendment Act and in solidarity with Jamia Millia Islamia students, sung it as a mark of protest, which hurt the sentiments of other communities.

The CAA grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists and Christians who faced religious persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh and came to India on or before December 31, 2014.

New Delhi, Apr 23: As the holy month of Ramzan is about to begin, several Muslim public figures on Thursday appealed to the community to offer tarawih and hold iftar inside their homes and follow the lockdown regulations imposed to tackle the coronavirus threat.

Television actor Iqbal Khan in a video message appealed to the people to not step out of their houses during Ramzan.

"This time around, whatever you do during Ramzan, you have to do it inside your houses. Do not visit mosques; offer tarawih (late evening prayers offered during Ramzan) at your homes. Your stepping outside will not only put you in a problem but may put your family members in trouble also," said Khan.

"And that will be wrong, do not go outside. If anyone says you have to go outside then they are wrong. Stay home and stay safe and help others stay safe too," he added.

Another TV actor and Tik Tok star Jannat Zubair asked people to avoid any kind of social gatherings so as to ensure the safety of everyone.

"I know we are in a difficult situation but there is no need to panic. We will overcome this and things will be fine. The holy month of Ramzan is going to start, please stay home, offer prayers at your homes and avoid family/friends gatherings for now. It is just a matter of time, things will be fine soon. Stay home and stay safe," she said.
Ramzan is likely to begin from April 24.
