Rape of 6-yr-old girl: Accused held within hours

Belagavi, Dec 12: A 26-year-old youth allegedly raped a six-year-old girl at Kadoli village in Belagavi taluk on Wednesday evening in the pretext of playing and escaped from the village after the incident.

According to police officials, alleged accused Sunil Balu Naik in the pretext of playing, lured the survivor to agriculture lands near his house and committed the sexual harassment on six year old girl.

While searching her, the parents of the survivor noticed the act and informed the police.The Kakati Police registered the case and the girl was admitted for treatment and medical tests at District Hospital in Belagavi.

Mangaluru, Jun 21: A total of 51 private hospitals and medical colleges empanelled under the Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust (SAST) have been allowed to treat Covid-19 patients in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district. Among them 30 are in Dakshina Kannada and 21 are in Udupi. Here is the full list:

Madikeri, Apr 27: Four labourers, who were travelling to Kerala via Makutta on foot, were stopped by Karnataka Forest Department officials and handed over to police.

Police said on Monday that the labourers identified as Anish, Radhakrishna, Shrinil and Prabhakar, who were working in the Coffee plantations in Chembellur and Ontiyangadi. As the roads to Kerala were sealed following lockdown, they were held up in the district.

The forest guards, who spotted them walking through the forest area, brought them back to the town as per the directions of the higher officials last evening. DCF Shivashankar, ACF Konerira Roshni and Ranger Arun Kumar were present.

Kasaragod, Apr 7: The new COVID Hospital at the Kasaragod Medical College has started functioning, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Monday.

The new administrative block of Kasaragod Medical College was converted into a COVID-19 Hospital for providing better treatment facilities to the coronavirus patients, the Chief Minister said while addressing a press conference at the Government Secretariat.

Stating that the hospital was converted to a Corona Care Hospital in just four days, he said 200 beds and 10 ICU beds are now ready.
