Riyadh: The Dakshina Karnataka Muslim Okkoota (DKMO), Riyadh held its annual general body meeting on 5th July 2019 at Apollo Dimora Hotel Batha, Riyadh.

Meeting commenced with recitation of Quran by Br. Dawood Sa’adi Uruvalpadav.

The Master of Ceremony Br. Basheer Talapady Welcomed All with Islamic Greeting and invited the Chief Guest Mr. Shihab kottukadu  Saudi Consultant NORKA,  and other distinguished guests Dr.Shafiq, King Saudi University, Riyadh & office bearers Mr.Abdul Azeez Bajpe President and Abdul Rahiman Sulaiman Treasurer, to the dais. Br. Abdul Azeez Bajpe presided over the Function.

DKMO Treasurer presented the Annual Financial report to the audience and invoked all life members to support DKMO in all fund raising events.

Through the presentation of an annual report DKMO Vice President Br. Fazlurrahman  briefed to the audience about the successful achievements of DKMO schemes wiz FRF Schemes, Loan Schemes, Governmental Medical Awareness schemes, Air Tickets for needy NRIs, Micro Loan & other general activities. All gathered members were enthralled and applauded DKMO's activities

The Most renowned Chief guest of the day, Mr.Shihab Kottukadu, A well known humanitarian & recipient of highest Civilian NRI award "Pravasi Bharatiya Samman" in his motivational speech encouraged DKMO team to go beyond the limit in this charitable field. He explained to audience how Allah helps to those who helps others.

With the Verse from Holy Quran another honored chief guest Dr.Shafiq talked to the members and advised to follow right teachings of Islam.

President Abdul Azeez Bajpe in his presidential speech appreciated and thanked all the Committee Executives, Life Members and the Sponsors & Well wishers for their support during his tenure.

To improve on current DKMO's activities & to take on further new projects, he urged all members to join in hands with DKMO by addding more and more life members.

As a part of felicitation, DKMO honored Br.Ghani Ahmed  for his overall acheivements &  Br.Fazlur Rahman and Br.Yousuf Kalanjibail for their vital contribution in membership campaign.

The president then dissolved the existing committee and called Br.Mushtaq Ahmed and Br.Shahul Hameed to conduct the elections. Members were asked to voluntarily join the new committee and lend a hand in carrying out the noble task. An astounding 36 members joined the new committee. Dammam: President of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Mr.Wasim Rabbani urged immediate intervention of Indian government to help Non Residential Indians who are in trouble due to corona pandemic in Saudi Arabia.

He said in a press rease that expatriate Indians are in concern  as number of corona infected people and  deaths are increasing in danger level.

Hea said, "the Saudi health minister's statement a few days ago indicates that the situation in Saudi needs to be taken more seriously with precautionary methods. There are concerns among expatriates because the number of people infected with the coronavirus and the number of deaths reported in various provinces are increasing at an alarming rate."

"Saudi Government and Health Ministry are taking excellent precautionary measures, however, in the coming days expect to see the number of cases to increase in Saudi Arabia. The Indian government needs to take diplomatic and immediate intervention to ensure the treatment of Indian expatriates considering the number of effected people increasing", He said.

He also urged that the Embassy and the Government of India should ensure qaurantiane faculty for Indian expatriates and arrange special low cost flights to bring back expatriates who would like to return home country.

" Government of India and Indian embassy need to intervene immediately to ensure that the quarantine system is in place for Indian expatriates as the facilities in the rooms where the residents are staying together are very limited. There should also be a mechanism to organize low-cost flight services for expatriates who are ready to go home. The government system should also be able to accommodate the expatriates in special quarantine areas in hometown as soon they arrive in India", he urged.

Dr Soofi Anwar, Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus, has achieved the prestigious professional recognition of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK. He has achieved this milestone through the Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE), the Continuing Professional Development Framework (CPD) for learning and teaching at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. 

He was recognized for this achievement on recently concluded virtual Learning & Teaching Conference-2020 organized by University of Stirling Campus in UK.  He has secured his Ph.D. in Management from University of Azteca, Mexico.

Dr. Soofi Anwar has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level and has worked in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK.

He has completed his MBA from Dept. of Business Administration, Mangalore University in 1999 and his B. Com degree from Canara College Mangaluru.

He has published numerous research papers in management and in the area of teaching and learning in higher education in reputed academic journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing. 

He is a son of Haji Abdul Khadar Kodijal and Mrs. Mariyamma from Konaje, Mangaluru.

Doha: Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF) once again set an example that no caste, creed, language and religion comes as hurdle for their humanitarian services and helped to perform last rites of Ramesh who committed suicide in Doha-Qatar.

45-year-old Ramesh son of K. Nagan hailing from Panikulam, Thrissur district in Kerala, who was working as a tailor committed suicide in his house at Ruwias in Qatar on 30th May 2020.

On hearing this news, some of his friends in Kearla informed Mr. Shihab who is also from Thrissur and a member of QISF and the same was brought to the notice of QISF humanitarian team head Mr. Abdul Latheef Madikeri and Basheer Ahmed of Tamil Nadu.

Immediately, the QISF team intervened and contacted the family members of the deceased in India and discussed the matter and consequences of sending the body back home to India in this pandemic COVID 19 situation.

Considering the prevailing situation, the family members gave the consent to bury the body in Qatar itself.

QISF team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation.

Finally, the body of the deceased was buried in Qatar on 7th June 2020 and the copies of all the relevant documents have been handed over to the family members.

The family members of the deceased thanked and applauded the leaders and all the members of QISF for their effective and on time humanitarian service rendered even in this pandemic crisis and having no bias.
