Riyadh: Kanangar Friends lift Mangaluru Champions Trophy-2015

Riyadh, Sep 10: Mangaluru Challengers-Riyadh recently organized Mangaluru Champions Trophy-2015 knock-out cricket tournament in association with MCA Riyadh.

The tournament was held at Exit-18, Sulai MCA Grounds, Riyadh, from July 31 to August 28. In all 28 out of 22 teams from Riyadh and six teams from Jubail took part in the tournament with the matches being held every Friday morning. Teams were divided into four groups. Preliminary rounds, quarter final and semifinals matches were played. The final match was played on August 28.

Final match was played between Kanangar Friends Jubail and Al Falah Jubail. Kanangar Friends won the toss and elected to field first.

Al Falah opening batsmen played responsible innings and managed to score 117 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 10 overs. Muzair (35), Haris (17) and Sajid (14) were the main scorers. Kanangar Friends bowlers Hidayath took 3 wickets and Ashfaq took 2 wickets, Nazeer took 1 wicket.

In reply Kanagar Friends had a good start opener Imthi played match winning innings. Imthi (33) and ASHFAQ (14), Tayyab (33) managed to get runs on the board and chased successfully. Kanangar friends scored 119 for the loss of 4 wickets in 9.2 overs.

Al Falah Bowlers SAJID took 2 wickets and Irshan and Nizam took 1 wicket each.

Second runner up 2 over match was played between SASP Jubail and Amaco Jubail.

Amaco Jubail won the toss and elected to bat first and manage to take the total score to 27 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their allotted 2 overs. Eagle bowlers: Yoga and Sampath took 1 wicket each.

SASP Jubail openers could not start well. Jeeshan (4) and Samnath(3) were the only two scorers as the total score of the team did not cross 7 for the loss of 1 wickets in their allotted 2 overs. Amaco Jubail bowlers Shifan took 2 wickets.

The performance by the players of all the teams thoroughly enthralled the cricket loving fans and viewers on the ground.

After the final match, prize distribution ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. Kaiser Parvez, Aboobaker Raisco, Sarfraz Raisco, Rajesh Kumar, Santhosh Shetty, Nitin Rai Kukkuvalli, Afsar Anwar Saheb, Haneef Kanangar, Jijith, Shekar, Mohan Nethrakere, Sharief Kananangar, Azeez Bankal, Shawkath Karkal.

Lifetime achievement award was presented to Satheesh Ameen. Riyaz proposed vote of thanks.

Mangaluru, May 22: An elderly cardiac patient from Dakshina Kannada, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to covid-19 lock-down, has finally reached his homeland thanks to the timely intervention by Humanity Forum Jubail and Indian Social Forum.

The elderly man hailing from Kadaba area of Dakshina Kannada was admitted to a hospital in Madinah. However, his condition continued to worsen due to lack of proper treatment. The efforts by his family members to bring him back home had not yielded results.

Meanwhile, one of the relatives of the patient, Ansari Suratkal, who happens to be a DKSC activist, brought the issue to the notice of the Karnataka unit of the Indian Social Forum in Dammam. ISF contacted Humanity Forum president Zakariya Jokatte, who helped the patient to speak directly union minister D V Sadananda Gowda in a video conference organised by coastaldigest.com.

Humanity Forum also persuaded the Indian Embassy to allow the stranded cardiac patient to fly back to India through Dammam-Bengaluru repatriation flight on May 20. 

However, it was not easy for the patient to travel from Madinah to Dammam International Airport due to lock-down and curfew. ISF not only obtained travel permission for him but also arranged vehicle. Jeddah and Riyadh units of ISF helped in obtaining permission letter in their respective places in spite of travel ban imposed by the police. Madinah unit of ISF arranged vehicle for transportation. Zakariya Jokatte bore the air ticket and other expenses of the patient.

Dubai: In response to UAE health authorities encourage blood donation campaign Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta - U.A.E, conducted blood donation camps on April 22 at Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and on 23/04/2020 at Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah.

The Abu Dhabi camp was inaugurated by Head of Department of Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, On this occasion she gave brief inputs of the benefits and features of blood donation, urged the participants to spread greater awareness about the importance of blood donation and congratulated the AKO members for their selfless social service and wished all the best for their future endeavours.

Abdul Rasheed, President of AKO presided over the function and Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta Vice President Mr. Mohammad Nasir appreciated the effort for organizing this camp and gathering youths to be a part of this noble cause as life is precious on this earth. "Each drop of blood counts much, so kindly take it as personal compassion to help unknown who requires blood with no relatives to help him/her.

In Abu Dhabi 41 and in Sharjah 49 donors participated in this event and donated their blood. It was nice to see cheerful smiling donors doing a great community work.
Blood bank staff and AKO Organizing team enthusiastically arranged the campaign which was witnessed by many members and leaders of various community organization of Karnataka.

Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta President briefed the participates about the ongoing social work of AKO in this current COVID-19 pandemic grim situation AKO is working on following fields: AKO Members have stepped up to support needy community during the Covid-19 pandemic have gone out of their way to comfort those struggling to deal with the challenging situation.

While thousands of people continue to #StayHome, many are in quarantine, there are those on visit visa and stuck here, others have lost jobs or face salary cuts. AKO in coordination with UAE Embassy and other social organization have been able to ensure basic necessities are fulfilled with food provisions and medical assistance to needy.

Providing counselling to bachelors and families those are on quarantine and isolation.

The organizers thanked everybody especially, UAE Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah, Management and staff as well as donors for their time and support for the good cause.

Dubai: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club (KSCC) distributed Eid Kit across the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah to the ) needy people on Eid al Fitr.

KSCC President Mr. Mohammed Ismail Said: “Eid is a Symbol of Gratitude and Unity. As the last few weeks have been hard for each one of us, we wanted to stand in solidarity to celebrate Eid, by helping labours and needy people. He also said that “We are together to be part of UAE. Serving these meals is our core social responsibility."

KSCC recently conducted humanitarian services during COVID-19 pandemic in 2 phases and conducted Blood Donation Drive. They have also planned to conduct next Blood Donation Drive on 25th May, 2020.

The KSCC main objective is to develop the expatriate community into a well-nourished section of society in the areas of social, sports and cultural activities.
