Riyadh: KMYA’s ‘Daawath’ turns into a ‘Karavali festival’

Riyadh: ‘Daawath’, a family get-together organised by the Katipalla Muslim Youth Association, brought together the spirit of Dakshina Kannada creating an environment of ‘Karavali’ festival in the capital of Saudi Arabia.

The event saw around 1,500 participants with expatriate families from different back grounds joined together with their relatives and friends. The pleasant weather in a newly built resort covered with the greenery contributed to joy.

The celebration commenced with the recitation of the Quranic verses by Mohammed Jasim Bashir. Prof. Mohammed Haroon, former principal of Anjuman College, Bhatkal, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, president of KWAR, Mr. Muzaffer, President of Jamiathul Falah, Riyadh, Mr. Abdul Aziz Bankal, President of DKMO and Hanif Bardila, president of Salafi Movement Riyadh addressed the gathering.

Mr. Ashraf Talapady, Deputy General Manager of LuLu, Mr. Abdullah Al Suwailem from Lulu, Mr.Mohammed Sadiq, CEO of SAMACOM, Mr. Abdul lathif, CEO of Universal, Mr. Zeeshan Ali representative of Expertise, KMYA Damam vice president Mr. Nazeer Gulam and former president Mr. Khalid Hamza were among the guests of the evening.

Mr.Parvezali, president of KMYA welcomed the guests. Young hafiz mohammed Jasim Bashir was felicitated by Mr. Ashraf Talapady and Mr. Abdullah Suwailem, Mr.Zeeshan Ali on behalf of young hafiz of Mangaluru Aayesh Asif Karinire received the memento.

The food court was a special attraction. The participants enjoyed different kinds of snacks like fried peanut, masala cucmber, fresh jalebi, samoosa, fried chicken items, Arabic coffee, tea , coffee, fresh juices , variety of fruits, igloo ice cream, Mangaluru payasa etc. The dinner food court at the event was filled with the aroma of scrumptious dinner prepared on the spot by the Mangalurean cuisine chef team. The crowd enjoyed the delightful Mangaluru cuisine.

Qira’t competition, quiz, games were the few of the events held at the women section. A short Islamic lecture was also presented in the women section. Gifts and prizes were presented to the winners.

An award of respect was given to the senior-most citizen from Mangaluru, who spent 38 years in Saudi Arabia. The entire evening was filled with fun and entertainment like traditional duff, kolu kali, Beary and Malayalam songs, children’s group songs, quiz and tug-of-war competition.

More than 50 KMYA volunteers actively worked under the leadership of Mr.Sulaiman Abdul Rahman for the success of the event. Abdul Aziz PS, Ameeruddin Hasan, Haneef PM, AbdulJabbar, TA Khader, Saif Mahin, Ashfak Ahmed, Shabeer AK, Hussain Shafi were among the KMYA executive members who made a tremendous contribution towards the event.

Dubai: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club (KSCC) distributed Eid Kit across the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah to the ) needy people on Eid al Fitr.

KSCC President Mr. Mohammed Ismail Said: “Eid is a Symbol of Gratitude and Unity. As the last few weeks have been hard for each one of us, we wanted to stand in solidarity to celebrate Eid, by helping labours and needy people. He also said that “We are together to be part of UAE. Serving these meals is our core social responsibility."

KSCC recently conducted humanitarian services during COVID-19 pandemic in 2 phases and conducted Blood Donation Drive. They have also planned to conduct next Blood Donation Drive on 25th May, 2020.

The KSCC main objective is to develop the expatriate community into a well-nourished section of society in the areas of social, sports and cultural activities.

Dubai, Aug 7: ‘Nama Tuluve’ Purushotham Salian, a staunch stalwart who always supported humanity and a strong pillar for Tuluvas in Dubai, passed away August, 4 at Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain. He was suffering from cancer and was admitted to Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain some time ago. He was on the last stage of illness which was not detected earlier.

His funeral last rites were conducted on Thursday August 7 at Jebel Ali cemetery in Hindu rites with a few of his family members present. Due to Covid pandemic, neither his body was able to be flown back to hometown nor could his two children come down to attend the funeral. However, it was said that his wish was to be cremated here in Dubai which unknowingly sometime back he whispered to one of his friends.

Purushotham had few years ago, survived a heart attack and fought back his life, though it had a minor paralytic effect on him. Even though, till recently he used to do his day-to-day work normally. He was a hard working personality and owned a readymade garment shop in Ajman and Dubai mostly taking care of clients with requirement of uniforms and coveralls. His dedication towards work was always appreciated by his clients who used to get their things delivered on time always.

He was never a publicity person and was helping the poor and needy in whatever ways he could silently. He strongly supported the community and was associated with Nama Tuluveru and Billawa community with commitment. He used to voluntarily come forward for the ground work of various functions of the community and used to be there until it was done perfectly.

Manama: Kannada Sangha Bahrain President Mr. Pradeep Shetty and Vice President of Bahrain's prestigious KHK HEROES Foundation Mohammed Mansoor on Monday, May 11, met The Second Secretary (Consular & CW) of the Embassy of India, Bahrain Mr. P. K. Chowdhury in the Indian Embassy. 

The situation, problems and relief of Indians and Kannadigas residing in Bahrain during the COVID 19 Pandemic was discussed in detail. The distribution of food (dry ration) kits, as well as those seeking repatriation, was also discussed in the meeting.

When asked about the repatriation of distressed Kannadigas, the Second Secretary said that though the number of Kannadigas who wish to return home is not much compared to the rest of the states, still Embassy is compiling all the information and will do the needful soon. 

Mr. Shetty and Mr. Mansoor told the Second Secretary that those who are in problem can contact them and they are ready to do their best.
