Riyadh: Seven Star wins JF Super Cup 2015

Riyadh: Jam'iyyatul Falah, Riyadh Unit organized JF Super Cup 2015 knock-out cricket tournament in association with MCA Riyadh under the sponsorship of SAQCO and SMSA Express.

The tournament was held at Exit-18, Sulai MCA Grounds, Riyadh, from May 1 to May 15. In all 16 teams took part in the tournament with the matches being held every Friday morning. Teams were divided into four groups. Preliminary rounds, quarter final and semifinals matches were played on May 1 and May 8. The final match was played on May 15.

Final match was played between Seven Star CC and Raigad King Aftab (RKA). RKA won the toss and elected to field first. Thanks to splendid bowling spell by Sarfaraz the batsmen faced difficulty in scoring run and lost early wickets of Shammu and Nayeem.

Seven Star middle order batsmen played responsible innings and managed to score 122 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 10 overs. Dawood Kodi (32), Ashfaq (33) and Shabbir (34) were the main scorers. RKA Bowlers Sarfaraz took 2 wickets and Azar, Shabbir, Shaker took 1 wicket each.

In reply Raigad Kind Aftab had a bad start due to unconditional wind and they lost their wickets in regular intervals. Only Shaker (25) and Shahzad (19) managed to get some runs on the board but could not reach the winning total. RKA team scored 96 for the loss of 7 wickets. Seven Star Bowlers Pervez, Shabbir & Derwood Kodi took 2 wickets, Ashfaq took 1 wicket.

Simultaneously second runner up match was played between Eagle Friends and Mangalore Challengers. Mangalore Challengers won the toss and elected to bat first. Mangalore Challengers lost their first wicket very early but their other opener Hashim played a splendid knock and scored 46 runs with 4 sixes and 4 fours and manage to take the total score to 107 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 10 over’s. Eagle bowlers: Ashfaq took 2 wickets, Majeed, Imran and Saeed took 1 wicket each.

In reply Eagle Friends openers start well Ashfaq (12) and Sharif (17). After the fall of second wicket on 40 runs Rasheed played a splendid knock of 48 runs but no other players manage to cope up with the bowling attack of Mangalore Challengers and were not able to achieve the winning runs. Eagle Friends manage to score 94 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 10 overs. Mangalore Challengers bowlers: Sattar took 4 wickets with a Hatrick, Hamza, Kaisar took 1 wicket each. 

The fantastic performance by the players of both teams proved to be an eyeful and thoroughly enthralled the cricket loving fans and viewers in the ground.

After the final match, prize distribution ceremony was held. Pervez Ali (Ex-President of JF NRCC) inaugurated the ceremony, in the presence of Altaf Hussain, SAQCO; He thanked all the Executive Committee Members of JF Riyadh who strived hard for the tournament.

Akthar Shaikh in his welcome speech briefed the audience about Jam’iyyatul Falah, a charity organization established in 1988 in Mangalore. The organization is providing educational needs to poor children of the down-trodden families. JF presently run one school offering free education to over 400+ students in rural areas at no cost, and a Boys hostel with 150 beds. We extend scholarships to over 3500 deserving students each year and distribute free books. Also, provide regular sponsorship to Orphan/Poor students, ambulance service, Medical aid, 5 Kidney Dialysis Machines to poor at free of cost,  he said.

In year 2013, Jam’iyyatul Falah completed 25 years of dedication and commitment to the community. The organization is the winner of Karnataka State award as “Best NGO”.

Addressing the gathering, Altaf Hussain, Managing Director, SAQCO, Riyadh, expressed his views and thanked JF Riyadh for giving the opportunity to be a part of their events and appreciated the JF Team for their hard efforts in uplifting the community back home.

Finally, Pervez Ali thanked all the guests, sponsors, participating teams and Executive Committee Members of JF Riyadh for extending their support for this noble cause and making this event a grand success.

Riyadh, Feb 24: Indian Islahi Center, Riyadh (IICR) kicked off the propagation campaign of "Learn the Quran" national conference, which is slated to be held on March 27, 2020 at Nofa Istiraha, Exit 18, Riyadh, Kingdom Saudi Arabia. It's IICR's 20th successful program.

Kerala Legislative Assembly's opposition leader & Congress leader, Ramesh Chennitthala inaugurated the campaign that was held at Voco Hotel in Riyadh, capital city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ramesh was on two days visit in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The objective of the campaign is to instil the keenness & to keep creating the continuous awareness amongst the community on Quran. It also enables to recite the Quran with Tajweed (science of reading the Quran) & correct form.

Aboobakker Edthanatukkara (President of IICR), Abdul Qayyum Bustani, Kunhi Kumbala, Abdullah Vallanchira, Adv. Jeddah: The first chartered flight for repatriation passengers from Jeddah to Bengaluru organized by Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah – Saudi Arabia was successfully landed at Bengaluru airport by 01.00 am on 19th July 2020.

Spice Jet (SG9884) departed from King Abdul Aziz International Airport Jeddah by 05.00 pm local time with 177 stranded passengers which includes 12 Pregnant Woman, 3 infants, 44 Short term visa holders, 3 medical emergency patients and 115 migrate workers and labours from various districts of Karnataka state.

Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah, a registered charitable organization under Government of Karnataka & Indian Consulate Jeddah - Saudi Arabia, helping the Kannadigas overseas & in Karnataka State as well, has initiated major role for helping stranded Kannadigas to travel back to home. During Pandemic hundreds of stranded Kannadigas were approached to the forum and requested to arrange special chartered flight to Bengaluru from Jeddah.

Initiating from collecting the data of passengers, the forum’s special panel including its President Mr. Mohammed Mansoor, Secretary Mr. Peter Mascarenes, Vice Presidents Mr. Nasir Khurshid, Dr.Ashfaque Maniyar, Chief Coordinator Mr. Shaikh Saoud, Cultural Secretaries Mr. Arifulla Shariff and Mr. Rajesh Suvarna, Treasurer Mr. Habib Rahman and Press Secretary Mr. Baig, the forum’s members have worked very hard to conclude this task very successful. 

The forum provided food packets as refreshment, complementary PPE kitsto each passenger as precaution against the spread of any infections while travelling and also guided all passengers by supporting them in Awdha portal (Saudi Passport Department) and Seva Sindhu portal registration of Government of Karnataka.

The official travel partner ITL Travel Management Company has rendered remarkable service to the passengers not only in ticketing but also supported with top priority in confirming the aircraft from SPICE JET and availed good service from ground staff at Jeddah Airport. 

All passengers have reached safely to their homes after completing the 7 days institutional quarantine at Bengaluru. 100% passengers had NEGETIVE report on Covid-19 test made on arrival as well as after institutional quarantine. 

In the press release published from the President, Mr. Mohammed Mansoor has expressed his prodigious gratitude to the Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia H. E. Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, Deputy Consul General of India - Jeddah Mr. Y Saber and Chief Minister of Karnataka State Shri B. S. Yediyurappafor providing necessary approvals and NOC for the chartered flight operation. He also conveyed his boundless appreciationto Shri B. Y. Dubai, Aug 7: One may call it good luck, but for two Indian expats it was God who prevented them at the last minute from boarding the Air India Express plane that crashed in Kerala, killing at least 18 people on board.

According to India's Civil Aviation Ministry, the Boeing 737 aircraft on a flight from Dubai to Kozhikode overshot the runway at Kozhikode airport on Friday evening. There were 184 passengers including 10 infants, 2 pilots and four cabin crew onboard the aircraft.

Noufal Moin Vetten, an Ajman resident working as an office boy in a Sharjah school, was booked to travel on the flight and had checked in as per schedule.

Recounting his miraculous escape, Vetten, a resident of Malappuram, Thirunavaya, whose visa was cancelled a week ago, told Gulf News: “I was handed my boarding pass, but when I reached immigration, they told me I had to pay a fine of Dh 1,000 (Rs 20,430) for overstay. I had only Dh 500 (Rs10,215) with me.

"I called my school PRO and he told me to come back. He said they would follow protocols and pay the fines before sending me,“ he said.

Vetten was disappointed and called his family to let them know.

“When I heard about the crash, I was saddened for all the passengers. But I'm so relieved I missed it. God has been really merciful,” said Vetten.

Afsal Parrakodan, a resident of Abu Dhabi, had a similar stroke of luck.

“My work visa was cancelled about a week ago. After getting my boarding pass, I was told I had to pay a fine of Dh1,000 at the immigration counter, but I had only Dh500 on me.”

“I was very keen to board the flight and be with my family. So I called a friend who brought me the additional Dh500, but by then, my baggage had been offloaded and the flight's doors were closed,” said Parrakodan.

“I was feeling very sad and called my mother to tell her I had missed the flight. But a few hours later, when I learnt of the crash, I couldn’t help but feel relieved and thankful to God for saving my life,“ said an overwhelmed Parrakodan who plans to fly back next week.
