RSS leader Ravinder Gosain shot dead in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, Oct 17: A Ludhiana-based RSS leader Ravinder Gosain (60) was shot dead outside his house in Gagandeep Colony of Jodhewal area on Tuesday morning. The leader was pumped two bullets by motorcycle borne two masked assailants, in head and back and he died on spot.

The deceased was the head of Mohan Shikha located in Amantran colony of Jodhewal. On Tuesday Gosain returned from Shakha around 7am and was sitting outside his house with two grandchildren when he was gunned down.

The CCTV installed near the location has captured the assailants roaming around the area since 6:30am. They have also been captured fleeing after the incident in another CCTV. The assailants were on Honda Stunner bike of black-yellow color.

Gosain was associated with RSS since childhood and was an active member of Shakha.

The zonal General Secretary RSS, Yash Giri said, "This is the failure of police administration as earlier also the police have been failed to cracker previous cases of attacks on religious leaders."

He added, "I have received a call from the Finance minister Arun Jaitley and he asked about the incident. All senior leaders are in touch with us."

The district president of BJP, Ravinder Arora said, "To agitate against the failure of police the RSS and BJP leaders will protest outside the office of Commissioner of police, after cremation."

The Commissioner of police, RN Dhoke said, "The police are exploring all angles in the case."

The Ludhiana police have also released the pictures of suspects, captured in CCTVs, on social media with contact numbers.

The kin of deceased are clueless about the reason behind the killing as according to them Ravinder Gosain had never received any threat.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 10: The man who fled from the Medical College Hospital where he was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 committed suicide on Wednesday morning after being brought back. He used his bed sheet to hang himself from the ceiling.

Hailing from Anad near Nedumangadu, the man, who was undergoing treatment in the isolation room set up at KHRWS pay ward, escaped from the hospital and boarded two KSRTC buses to reach his home.

The Health Department had said the latest tests had returned negative and he was to be discharged on Wednesday. However, City Police Commissioner Balram Kumar Upadhyay had claimed that one more test result of the person was awaited.

The man was blocked by locals upon his arrival at Anad. He was later taken back to the hospital and the police had registered a case against him under the Kerala Public Health Act and Epidemic Diseases Ordinance.

Kozhikode, Jun 26: A man, who had returned from Bahrain on Thursday and has been under quarantine at his house in Villyapallai near here, has been stabbed on his arm by an unidentified person.

Police sources said the assailant, with a masked face, had ransacked the man's house by break-opening the door at midnight lat night and stabbed Lijeesh on his arm and fled from the scene.

The nearby residents took Lijeesh to a nearby hospital and was put back on quarantine.

Pilibhit, Apr 3: Two men were mauled to death by a tiger in the vicinity of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve here, an official said on Friday.

The incident happened in Richhaula Chowki of Gajraula area in the district on Thursday night when Ninder Singh (50) and his servant Dorilal (28) were sleeping on their agricultural field, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve Deputy Director Naveen Khandelwal told reporters.

The tiger also dragged them for over 500 metres, he said.

The forest department came to know about the incident when they were informed about it by Ninder's brother after which teams of police, district administration and forest department reached there.

The tiger was tranquillised on Friday by the forest department team and will be sent to Lucknow Zoo.
