Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road restoration work underway after landslide hits ghat section

Mangaluru, Aug 8: Railway track restoration work was carried out in Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road Ghat section in Siribagilu area on Wednesday after a landslide occurred due to heavy and incessant rain in the region.

As monsoon intensified in the region, a landslide occurred near Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road Ghat in Siribagilu, after which mud and rocks blocked the railway track.

A restoration operation under the supervision of Divisional Railway Manager, Aparna Garg was effectuated.

Heavy rains have caused multiple landslides in the state and in view of clearing mud from railway track near Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road Ghat section, many trains have been cancelled on Thursday.

A flood-like situation has developed in the state due to heavy rains. The situation might take a turn for the worse in the coming days.

Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in North Karnataka on Monday.

Various relief and rescue operations are underway in the state.

In view of the situation, a holiday has been declared for schools and colleges in rain-affected districts of Kodagu, Dharwad, Mangaluru, Hassan, Belagavi, Mysore, Karwar and Udupi by their respective District Administrations.

C M Ibrahim seeks Karnataka govt nod for mass Eid-ul-Fitr prayers

Bengaluru, May 14: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Former Union Minister and Congress Karnataka MLC, C M Ibrahim has, in a letter to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, sought permission for the Muslim community to congregate at Idgah grounds and mosques to offer namaz together on the occasion of Id-ul-Fitr later this month.

"The Id-ul-Fitr festival in the state may be celebrated on the 24th or 25th May 2020, during which Muslims have to offer special prayers. On behalf of the entire community. I would suggest that the Government may take a decision by having due consultation with medical experts to grant permission for Muslims on the day of Id to offer prayers in the Idgah maidans or masjids from morning till 1 pm with all precautionary measures and safety norms," the letter states.

"In this regard. I request you to kindly look into the matter and after consulting the medical experts, take a suitable decision enabling Muslims all over the state to offer ld prayers at ldgah Maidans or Masjids in their respective localities," the letter added.

As part of its COVID-19 guidelines, the Ministry of Home Affairs had earlier directed states and Union territories to prevent social gatherings and religious congregations and ensure lockdown measures were strictly followed.

If Mr. Yediyurappa gives permission as reqested by Ibrahim, it will be adisastor for Muslims community, Saudi Arabia imposed , full curfew from 23rd to 30th May, 2020, this is to avoid Eid gathering and spread of Corona Virus, our community should boycott such so called self declared leader.

Any new cases of Covid-19 cases will be blamed as Eid Jihad, request all our like minded people to protest this request.

CM Ibrahim is just trying to attract media and public atttention. he is a useless politician.

Who is he? What is he? And what did he do to Muslim community and who gave him the authorization to talk to the minister of behalf of Muslim Community

Mangaluru | Random covid-19 testing likely in Ullal area as cases mount

Mangaluru, June 27: The district health authorities are likely to conduct mass random testing for Covid-19 in Ullal town on the outskirts of the city in the wake of detection of several new coronavirus positive cases there in past couple few days.

An elderly woman from Azad Nagar in Ullal was died of coronavirus earlier this week. Many others including a couple of policemen also tested positive for the deadly virus in vicinity.

Following this, local elected representatives including MLA U T Khader and religious leaders of Ullal held a meeting regarding taking steps to control the spread of the virus. In the meeting Mr Khader suggested the authorities to conduct random testing in Ullal town.

Apart from Azad Nagar, covid-19 cases have surfaced in Kodi, Bangera Lane and in the surroundings of police station and Sahara Hospital triggering panic among people. Hence, the authorities are like to conduct random testing of auto rickshaw drivers, fishermen, street vendors among others.

Meanwhile, several mosques in Ullal have reportedly decided to suspend congregational prayers temporarily.

Karnataka announces ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for kin of Mangaluru landslide victims

Bengaluru, Jul 5: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of a youth and a child, who died due to a landslide at Gurupura in Mangaluru.

"The Chief Minister announces Rs 5 lakh each compensation to Safwan (17) and Shehla (10) who died due to landslide at Gurupura, Mangaluru. Houses will also be built for people who lost houses at Bodanthilla, Dakshina Kannada," an official said.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon.
The State Disaster Management Authority said that 57 people and 262 animals lost their lives in flood, rainfall and lightning-related incidents in Karnataka between April 1, 2020, and July 5, 2020.
