Salman dares photographers to make him apologise

Salman Press Mumbai, Jul 20: In a clear message that he is in no mood to back down, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan today dared the paparazzi to continue with their ban on covering him and to make him apologise on the issue.

"The good part is that the stand they (photographers) have taken, whether it is good or bad, loss or profit..It`s a stand and it should continue. I want them to continue with their stand so much so that it brings me down to my knees and makes me apologise to them saying `don`t destroy my career`," Salman told reporters here at a promotional event for his upcoming film, `Kick`.

Press photographers did not turn up at the event.

"I did not start this issue. I would be more than happy if this stand of not clicking my pictures continues. Had I been not present at that day, thing could have gone worse," Salman said replying to a query.

He was referring to a scuffle that reportedly took place between the photographers and his security guards at a promotional event here last week, apparently after the actor turned down their demand to pose at a particular spot.

"It was the PR team who had called you all. You came close, you reacted...There were bouncers (and) the fight was with them (then) why you want publicity in my name and you got publicity. You cannot ban me. It is your choice to not click my pictures," the 48-year-old actor said.

"I want those photographers to go back to the same bodyguards without Salman Khan and do the same thing, speak to the bouncers and bodyguards in the same way. It is because of me that they got saved that day," the `Dabbangg` star said.

Salman said that photographers jostled to capture his photographs and came close to him, which was a fallout of competition among them. "(But) I have nothing to do with it. I am a winning party in this," the actor said.

The ban will reportedly stay in place till the release of `Kick` on July 25.

To a query, Salman said, "Why remove the ban, keep the stand. It has became an issue, the ruckus was created and they got all publicity... So continue with it."

Deepika Padukone should hire me: Ramdev

Indore, Jan 14: Yoga guru Ramdev has said that Deepika Padukone should hire persons like him for offering correct advice, days after the actress had visited Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi following the violence at the campus earlier this month.

"Deepika Padukone needs to study about political, social and cultural issues. She should understand more about our country. Only after gaining knowledge, she should take decisions. I feel she should have persons like Swami Ramdev for correct advice," Ramdev said at an event here on Monday.

On January 7, Padukone joined the protest at JNU after a masked mob entered the varsity campus and attacked the students and teachers with sticks and rods on January 5.

Several BJP leaders questioned the support extended by Padukone. On the other hand, the Congress threw their weight behind the actress for her stand.

I'm fine, observing lockdown at home: Naseeruddin Shah on hospitalisation rumours

May 1: Rubbishing reports of hospitalisation, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah on Thursday said he was "fine" and at home observing the nationwide lockdown.

Shah, 69, in a Facebook post, thanked people for their concern and reassured them about his health.

"I thank all those enquiring after my health and reassure them I am fine," he said.

"I'm at home and observing the lockdown. Please don't believe any rumours," he added.

"A Wednesday" actor's younger son Vivaan Shah also dismissed rumours about his father's health.

"He's alright. These are just rumours," Vivaan said.

Reports about Shah's health started surfacing on social media as the industry was coming to terms with the deaths of Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor.

Rishi Kapoor, aged 67, died on Thursday in a hospital here after a two year-long battle with lukaemia, while Irrfan, 54, passed away on Wednesday due to neuroendocrine tumour, a rare form of cancer.

Wrong to boycott Deepika or her film: Sanjay Raut

Mumbai, Jan 12: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday came out in support of actor Deepika Padukone, who is facing flak from the BJP and some other quarters over her visit to the JNU campus in Delhi to express solidarity with students who were recently attacked by armed assailants.

Raut, who is a Rajya Sabha member and the executive editor of Shiv Sena mouthpiece 'Saamana', said the country cannot be run in a "Talibani" style.

After Padukone's visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Tuesday, many appreciated her "silent solidarity", but some others criticised her for "supporting Leftists", saying it was a promotional stunt for her latest film "Chhapaak".

Some also demanded a boycott of her film, based on the life of an acid attack survivor, played by Padukone.

A section of BJP leaders also criticised the 34-year- old actor over her JNU visit.

Talking to PTI, Raut said, "The demand for boycott of the actress and her film is wrong. The country cannot be run in a 'Talibani' style."

"Chhapaak", directed by Meghna Gulzar, hit the theatres on Friday.

Declaring a movie tax-free means the state has waived the entertainment levy imposed on it, thereby bringing down the ticket rates and encouraging more people to watch it.
