Salman Khan's bodyguard booked for assault

Mumbai, Oct 26: Bollywood actor Salman Khan's bodyguard Shera has been booked for assault after he allegedly roughed up an acquaintance at DN Nagar in suburban Andheri here, police said today.

The incident took place last night after Shera got into a scuffle with one Attar Umar Qureshi on Link road, with whom he also had a heated argument earlier over the phone, senior police inspector Dhanaji Nalawade of DN Nagar police station said.

The altercation turned ugly when Shera allegedly beat up Qureshi.

Subsequently, the victim approached the police station and filed a complaint after which Shera was booked under section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 326 of the IPC, the inspector said.

The victim has been hospitalised in Andheri.

The reason behind the altercation is not yet clear. Also, no arrest has been made so far in the case and further probe is underway.

When Qureshi was passing through the Link Road with his friends, he saw Shera and halted his car, said Mumbai Police spokesperson Ashok Dudhe in a statement.

Meanwhile, Qureshi got a call and while he was speaking an altercation broke out between him and Shera, he said.

According to the spokesperson, the complainant alleged that Shera hit him with a baton and a but of pistol and fled from the spot.

Los Angeles, Feb 21: Nepalese-Australian actor Dichen Lachman has joined the cast of the third film in the Jurassic World franchise.

Lachman, best known for Netflix series Altered Carbon and TNT show Animal Kingdom, is the latest addition to the Colin Trevorrow-directed picture, reported Deadline.

Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment project will see Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprise their roles. Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise are also part of the cast.

The movie marks the return of original Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum.

Trevorrow has co-written the script of the new film with Emily Carmichael. He will also executive produce the film with Steven Spielberg.

Jurassic World 3 hits theatres on June 11, 2021.

Chennai, Feb 10: The Income Tax Department on Monday summoned Tamil actor Vijay over charges of tax evasion and his alleged links with financier Anbu Chezhiyan.

The development comes after the IT Department on Friday carried out a raid at the actor's residence in Panaiyur area in Chennai.

IT sleuths held searches in connection with the success of a recent film which was a Box Office hit, collecting around Rs 300 crore.

As per sources, the IT Department on Thursday recovered Rs 65 crores from the residence of Vijay's alleged financer in Chennai during raids which were carried out in the connection with the tax evasion case linked to AGS Cinemas.

New Delhi, Feb 25: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday gave time to Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to seek instructions on travel ban imposed on comedian Kunal Kamra.

Kamra approached the court against IndiGo which suspended him from flying with the airlines for a period of six months. Other airlines had also followed the suit in pursuance to this.

Justice Naveen Chawla said that the regulatory body should not have certified actions of airlines other than IndiGo to ban Kamra without conducting inquiry. The matter will now be heard on February 27.

Last month, IndiGo had barred the stand-up comedian for six months from using its services for allegedly portraying "unacceptable behaviour" onboard its flight.

The airline claimed that Kamra, while travelling on a Mumbai-Lucknow IndiGo flight, provoked a TV news anchor by asking questions over his news presentation style.
