Sameer elected heLPy president, Suneer general secretary

Qatif: heLPy, a philanthropic organisation of Indian expatriates in Saudi Arabia, recently conducted its first ever annual general body meeting at Abbas Mazhra in Qatif.

Master of the ceremony Suneer Ahmed opened the meeting with Islamic greetings and invited the guests and its members to the dais. The meeting commenced with the recitation of the verses from holy Quran by Shakir Mangalore, who called upon the audience to come forward and help the needy in the community. Br. Abdul Rafiq delivered welcome address and gave a brief explanation on heLPy.

In his presidential speech, Bava Shabu Beary thanked the committee for giving him the opportunity to lead heLPy for the term 2013-2014. With all the good wishes and support from the other two presidents, the Committee, he was able to justify the role as presidents for given term. He expressed his appreciation and also thanked the committee of the term 2013-2014 for their enormous support which had strengthened the Unit to lead in the direction of prosperity.

The annual report for the term 2013-2014 was read out by the General Secretary Mohammed Asif. He briefed about heLPy to the audience, which literally represents an association meant for the welfare of less privileged brothers & sisters of the society, which came into existence on 24th October 2013. He also briefed the activities and the achievements.

The first and foremost priority in heLPy is given to all round development of the less privileged families in the community.

During the term 2013-2014, heLPy had conducted 14 monthly meetings and 5-6 special meetings to discuss various aspects for the betterment of the community and prepared for Cricket Tournament. heLPy had successfully organized the Cricket Tournament.

Treasurer Abdul Khader Shaheer presented the annual financial reports of heLPy for the Year 2013-2014. This mainly highlighted the financial support given to Bengre Project.

Br Mohidin Bava presented an accolade ceremonial further in a neat and auspicious way. He further explained the importance of unity and charity of us to the helpless and needy people of our community.

Chief guest Br Abdul Samad (Smart Arabia) spoke a few words on charity and wished all the heLPy members a great success.

The existing committee was dissolved by the office bearers and a new committee came into existence. Br. Mazhar was appointed as the election controller. He professionally monitored the election process.

The new-elected president, Br Sameer Ahmed had addressed the new committee and thanked all the members for showing confidence in him and giving opportunity to lead main role for the term 2015. Taking into consideration the support from the new and the outgoing committee, he assured to exhibit his role as President with better productivity with the ‘Vision of Success and Achievement’.

The vice president Br Zafrulla took the opportunity to encourage the new committee to work with commitment, devotion, hard-work and determination. heLPy is growing day by day and new members should join hands to build a better community, he said and requested each member to get at least one new member to double our strength.

Br Javed, Br Hyder Blue Star, Br Ashraf Blue star, Br Sajid, Br Asif Mohammed greeted heLPy with well wishes and appreciated all the achievements and hard work of heLPy.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Br. Suneer Ahamed and on behalf of heLPy had expressed the gratitude to all the members and guests for their kind presence and congratulated the new committee for their success in accomplishing all the future assignments of heLPy.

Dubai: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club (KSCC) distributed Eid Kit across the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah to the ) needy people on Eid al Fitr.

KSCC President Mr. Mohammed Ismail Said: “Eid is a Symbol of Gratitude and Unity. As the last few weeks have been hard for each one of us, we wanted to stand in solidarity to celebrate Eid, by helping labours and needy people. He also said that “We are together to be part of UAE. Serving these meals is our core social responsibility."

KSCC recently conducted humanitarian services during COVID-19 pandemic in 2 phases and conducted Blood Donation Drive. They have also planned to conduct next Blood Donation Drive on 25th May, 2020.

The KSCC main objective is to develop the expatriate community into a well-nourished section of society in the areas of social, sports and cultural activities.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.

Kuwait: Friday Forum Kuwait conducted its 12th inter-school Islamic Elocution Competition at Hotel Rajadhani Palace, Khaitan on 1st January 2020. 

The competition, which was held in the senior and junior categories had participation from 15 Indian Schools across Kuwait comprising of 43 students. In the senior category, Ayisha Wafiya of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Efrem Joseph of Indian Community School, Amman won the second prize. 

In the junior category, Hima Jameela of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Fadhel Kandapath of Fahaheel Al Wataniya Indian School won the second prize. Nawaal Yaseen Ebrahim of Indian Community School (SR), Salmiya and Rhruthunanda of Indian Learners Own Academy, Abbasiya won the consolation prizes in senior and junior categories respectively.

This year, the event was fully conducted by the ladies wing of Friday Forum. Dr. Thasneem Amir, Ibtisam Basheer, Toast Masters Ola Rasheed, Fatma Abduhedeid, Shazia Thabassum and Marium Rangat were the judges for the competition in senior and junior categories. The event started with the Qira’at by Saneera Riyas, followed by welcome speech by Dr. Sajna Mohammed. 

The prizes were distributed to winners by Shahina Mansoor, Femitha Faseeh, Dr.Thasneem Amir, Dr. Sajna Mohammed, Zeenath Yacoub, Safna Sayam and Saneera Riyas. The Souvenir for the program - “INSPERIA 2020”- was released during the event by the chief editor Farha Abdul Rahman. The program was compered by Thanveera Noushad and the program convenor Subeana Shabeer conveyed the vote of thanks.
