Sangeetha Sangama: Musical extravaganza by Kannadiga singers in Dubai on Oct 20

Dubai: Kannadigas in association with Shreelalitha Events and Ventura Resources are geared up for the musical extravaganza ‘Kannada Kogilegala Sangeetha Sangama 2017’ at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, The Indian High School, Oud Maitha Road, Dubai. The programme will commence at around 5 p.m. on Friday, October 20.

Well-known playback singer from Sandalwood ‘Maadhurya Swara Sarvabhama’ Rajesh Krishnan will be flying all the way from Bengaluru along with ‘Kannadadha Gaarudiga’ Hemath, ‘Malenada Kogile’ Manasa Holla & Winner of ‘Sarigamapa Little Champs Season 10’ Supriya will be entertaining Kannadigas of UAE with their soulful singing and music throughout.

Famous Kannada TV Serial ‘Comedy Kiladigalu’ fame ‘Maathina Malli’ Kumari Nayana, GG alias Govindegowda & ‘Anepataki Aneesha’ the famous lady character of Kannada TV Serial will also join in rib tickling comedy cession to add spice to the programme.

Musicians Sandeep (Flute & Saxophone), Abhishek (Rhythm Pad), Prathana (Baas Guitar), Pradhyumna (Tabla), Karthik (Lead Guitar) & Deepak (Key Board) all stalwarts from Kannada T.V. Channels will be enthralling audience with their musical instruments and compositions.

That is not all, the programme will also be spiced by Bharatanatyam dancers by ‘Naatya Mayoori’ sisters Shalini & Malini who will present various classical dance which will surely capture the minds of audience.  Adding attraction will be various colourful dance presentations by Students of RIVA Dance & Music Institute, Dubai.

Hubballi, Jan 15: Leaders of the Muslim community, Dalit organisations, Congress Party, and others are staging a hunger strike at Dr B R Ambedkar Circle in Hubballi, opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Raising slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, they demanded the withdrawal of the CAA and not to implement NRC.

"India is witnessing such a dictatorship for the first time. The BJP government is trying to divide people into the lines of religion, through CAA and NRC. This move is a threat for peace and harmony in the country," said AICC member Shakir Sanadi, who led the protest.

Sayed Tajuddin Quadri, Moulana Niyaz Alam, Moulana Nayimuddin and others took part in the hunger strike.

Former minister A M Hindasgeri, former MP I G Sanadi, F H Jakkappanavar, Pitambrappa Bilar, and others also extended support to the protest.

Bengaluru, Aug 4: Janata Dal (Secular) leader and MLA Satyanarayana passed away today due to multiple organ failure. He was 67.

Satyanarayana was representing Tumakuru’s Sira constituency in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. He is survived by five daughters and one son.

It is learnt that he was suffering from multiple organ ailments from the past few days and was recently admitted to Manipal Hospital in the city. He breathed his last at 12:20 p.m.

He contested from JDS and worked three times as MLA and 2 times as MP. He was the chairman of KSRTC during the coalition government led by HD Kumaraswamy.

Former Prime Minister HD Devegowda mourned his death and said, “It is a shock to hear the demise of former minister and my close friend. We are friends from the past 3 decades and I cannot recall the days without him.”

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President DK Shivakumar said, “Satyanarayana was concerned for the farmers and he was a gentleman. Hearing the news hurts me and this is an irreparable loss to the political field.”
