SASP Jubail lift JF Winter Cup-2018

Al-Khobar: The JF Winter Cup-2018 organized by ‘Jam’iyyatul Falah’ was concluded with a fabulous closing ceremony and a spectacular grand finale on 12th January 2018 at SABSA Cricket Ground in Al-Khobar.

The 8 over knockout cricket tournament was commenced with the opening match between SAB Warriors and CBC was inaugurated by Nizamuddin Shaikh, the President of JF Dammam Unit. The annual event of Sports was well organized by the JF’s Sports Working Committee and all the 8 Top Cricket Teams participated in the tournament from Eastern Province had displayed a true sportsman spirit during the tournament and played their matches with full of interest and excitement.

In the finals, SASP Jubail won the “JF WINTER CUP 2018” by defeating Khobar United by 53 runs. Rajesh Shetty, the captain of SASP was very happy for winning the tournament and praised his boys for exhibiting wonderful cricket throughout the tournament.

Khobar United‘s Captain Zeeshan won the toss and elected to field first. SASP batted first and their batsman displayed brilliant batting performance and took the team for a commendable total of 124/4 and set the huge target for Khobar United. The dazzling performance by SASP’s star batsman Deepak has judged man of the match in final for his brilliant batting performance of 55 runs with 7 sixes and 2 fours.

In reply, Khobar United’s batsman starts struggling from the very first ball which took the wicket of Basit for duck. Batsman fail to perform well as they frequently losing the wickets against fine bowling and fielding performance by SASP. Tail ender batsman Fayaz scored 17 runs and took his team total to 71 runs in allotted 8 overs.

Prior to this mega final, 1st Semi Finals was played between Khobar United and SAB Warriors, batted first SAB Warriors scored 106/4 in allotted 8 overs and in reply Khobar United chased the target in the 7th over and won the match with 5 wickets.

2nd Semi Finals was played between SASP and Blue Stars, batted first SASP scored 82/4 in allotted 8 overs.  In reply Blue Stars were able to reach 58/9 in allotted 8 overs. SASP won the match by 24 runs.

Immediately after the Finals, the post-match presentation and closing ceremony was hosted by Javed Sayed and supported by Ameen Shaikh, General Secretary of JF Dammam Unit. The program commenced with Qirath by Master Salman Ashraf. A brief presentation of JF’s activities was presented by Suneer Ahmed.

President Nizamuddin addressed the audience with his welcome speech and thanked the thrilled-packed audience for their kind presence. President appreciated all the 8 cricket teams for their participation and lauded their great sportsmanship throughout the tournament and declared all the 8 cricket teams as a WINNER for playing in the tournament, which contributes all the collections for the Noble Cause.

The Chief Guest and Official Main Sponsor  Syed Iqbal Ahmed (Managing Director of Nafri Aims International) and the other Guests of Honor Ravi Karkera (Ex-President of MASA) and Mohammad Faisal (Managing Director of Arabian Dunes), were invited on the dais including Nizamuddin (President of JF Dammam), Sadiq Ahmed (Chairman, JF Sports Working Committee), Ahmed Abbas (Excom, JF Dammam), Shahul Hameed (JF, Ex-Ameer), Rajesh Shetty (Captain, SASP), Zeeshan (Captain, Khobar United) and Rajgopal (Senior DCA Official). A plaque of appreciation to all the potential sponsors was announced by Ibrahim Khadar Koppa.

Subsequently, the prize distribution ceremony was hosted by Javed Sayed and announced the winners of Man of the Match awardees who played in Quarters, Semis and Finals Matches. The awards were selected by the Tournament juries and referees headed by Mohammad Siraj, Sports coordinator of JF Dammam Unit.

-        Man of the Tournament won by Sudheer of SASP.

-        Best Batsman won by Zeeshan .of Khobar United.

-        Best Bowler won by Sameer of SASP.

-        Best Fielder won by Mohiddin Salih of SASP.

-        Best Wicket Keeper won by Basit of Khobar United.

-        Runners-up Trophy won by Khobar United

-        Trophies were presented to Match Officials and Umpires.

Rajesh Shetty, the captain of SASP collected the Winner’s Trophy from Syed Iqbal Ahmed (Nafri Aims International) and each winning players had collected their individual trophies. The captain of Khobar United collected the Runners-up Trophy and the players were distributed with their individual trophies.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Ameen Shaik, General Secretary of JF Dammam Unit.

Dubai, Aug 7: One may call it good luck, but for two Indian expats it was God who prevented them at the last minute from boarding the Air India Express plane that crashed in Kerala, killing at least 18 people on board.

According to India's Civil Aviation Ministry, the Boeing 737 aircraft on a flight from Dubai to Kozhikode overshot the runway at Kozhikode airport on Friday evening. There were 184 passengers including 10 infants, 2 pilots and four cabin crew onboard the aircraft.

Noufal Moin Vetten, an Ajman resident working as an office boy in a Sharjah school, was booked to travel on the flight and had checked in as per schedule.

Recounting his miraculous escape, Vetten, a resident of Malappuram, Thirunavaya, whose visa was cancelled a week ago, told Gulf News: “I was handed my boarding pass, but when I reached immigration, they told me I had to pay a fine of Dh 1,000 (Rs 20,430) for overstay. I had only Dh 500 (Rs10,215) with me.

"I called my school PRO and he told me to come back. He said they would follow protocols and pay the fines before sending me,“ he said.

Vetten was disappointed and called his family to let them know.

“When I heard about the crash, I was saddened for all the passengers. But I'm so relieved I missed it. God has been really merciful,” said Vetten.

Afsal Parrakodan, a resident of Abu Dhabi, had a similar stroke of luck.

“My work visa was cancelled about a week ago. After getting my boarding pass, I was told I had to pay a fine of Dh1,000 at the immigration counter, but I had only Dh500 on me.”

“I was very keen to board the flight and be with my family. So I called a friend who brought me the additional Dh500, but by then, my baggage had been offloaded and the flight's doors were closed,” said Parrakodan.

“I was feeling very sad and called my mother to tell her I had missed the flight. But a few hours later, when I learnt of the crash, I couldn’t help but feel relieved and thankful to God for saving my life,“ said an overwhelmed Parrakodan who plans to fly back next week.

Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Central Committee, Saudi Arabia organized Republic Day program at AlRyan Policlinic Restaurant Auditorium, Dammam on 25th January 2020.

Abdul Waris, Former Chairman of Indian International School Dammam Inaugurated the program.

Wasim Rabbani, president of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Central Committee Presided over the program.

Kuwait: State of Karnataka is enriched with Daasa culture, which had contributed immensely to its literature, culture, art & philosophy. Daasa tradition in Karnataka was part of the Bhakti movement which flourished from around 15th century and it extended considerable spiritual influence over the masses. Kuwait Kannada Koota, a socio-cultural association for the people of Karnataka in Kuwait, organized its annual Daasotsava on 14th February 2020 in remembrance of these saints, thereby displaying the rich cultural heritage of the state. 

The program started with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath, convener of cultural committee. Divine invocation prayer by Mrs. Vasantha Ashok and Mrs. Sandhya Arun set the trend for the event. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the 2020 executive committee, comprising of President Mr. Rajesh Vittal, Vice President Mr. Sandeep Chabba, General Secretary Mr. Praveen Kumar Shetty and Treasurer Mr. Pradeep Rao. President, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the importance of Daasas in Kannada literature & history and briefed about the series of upcoming programs. Cultural programs started with fancy dress competition by Koota children comprising of all age group starting from infants to elder kids. This program stole the show as the efforts & time invested by children and their parents were clearly visible. 

2019 executive committee was felicitated by the current committee for wonderfully managing Koota affairs & programs. This was followed by the release of Koota magazine “Marala Mallige", comprising of informative articles, drawings, poems etc., entirely contributed by the association members. Event’s main attraction “Vrindavana Leelavarana", a colorful dance drama spectacularly portrayed by 54 Koota children, was very well appreciated & received by the attendees. Association children who successfully completed 10th and 12th were felicitated as a token of encouragement. Executive committee gave away prizes to Kids who excelled in the stage competitions held earlier. Audience was treated to a divine and melodious Bhajan program conducted astutely by the ladies & men. Koota women performed Bhajan Kolata, along with ladies bhajan, in a well-coordinated manner. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of Koota, thanking those who contributed for the success of the event. Another attraction was a quiz competition “Rasa Prashne", conducted efficiently between the programs, by Mr. Mahesh Shiramgond. 

The whole event was planned and executed astutely by the cultural committee under the leadership of Convener, Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath. Public Relations Committee, led by Mrs. Suparna Dambal, welcomed the members in a vibrant & colorful way, showcasing a beautifully erected divine mantap. The event was sponsored by Unimoni, LIC HFL, VSPL, Geetherb, Kotak Life Insurance, Joy Alukkas, Lulu Hypermarket & Total Environment. The program ended with a sumptuous satvik lunch, sponsored by the senior Koota member, Mr. Ramachandran Seetharaman.
