Saudi King pledges to host 1,500 relatives of Yemeni and Sudanese war dead during Hajj pilgrimage

Dubai, Jul 30: Hundreds of relatives of Yemeni and Sudanese soldiers killed in the war in Yemen are to be hosted in Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj pilgrimage, Saudi press agency reported.

The announcement was made on Monday by King Salman, who said that 1,500 relatives would be traveling to the Kingdom to perform the Islamic pilgrimage in Islam’s holiest city.

The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Sheikh said the King’s announcement showed his recognition of the “heroic sacrifices made by soldiers to defend the security and unity of Yemen and its territorial integrity from the domination of Iran.”

He added the decision was part of the ongoing efforts by Saudi Arabia and its allies to support the internationally recognized government of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.

Meanwhile the Yemeni Ministry of Endowments and Guidance said on Saturday it had “completed the arrangements to receive some 25,000 Yemeni pilgrims coming from the Yemeni territory through Wadiah Port starting Aug 2.”

And more than 2,300 Sudanese pilgrims arrived on two ships, the Mouda and the Nour, where they were screened by medical teams.

Riyadh, Apr 20: Six more people have died in Saudi Arabia after contracting coronavirus as 1,122 new coronavirus cases were reported on Monday.

The Saudi health ministry said that total number of cases in the Kingdom had increased to 10,484. It also recorded 92 new recoveries, raising the total to 1,490.

The ministry said precautionary measures shall remain to limit the virus spread.

Riyadh, Apr 30: Saudi Arabia on Thursday recorded 1,351 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 22,753, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

The ministry also announced 5 more deaths and 210 new recoveries, raising the total number of fatalities and recoveries to 162 and 3,163 respectively.

Riyadh with 440 cases topped the list, followed by 392 cases in Makkah, 120 in Jeddah and 119 in Madinah.

Dubai, Apr 21: Saudi Arabia reported 1122 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 10,484, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday (April 20).

Ministry of health announced 27% of the cases are for Saudis, while 73% for non-Saudis, and ages ranged from one month old baby to 96 years old.

Meanwhile, the ministry reported 92 recoveries today, with total recoveries in the kingdom at 1,490. There are 96 cases in intensive care.

The ministry also confirmed 6 deaths on Monday, bringing the total number of deaths in the kingdom to 103.

The Saudi health minister on Monday announced that 47 billion riyals were approved by the goverment to support the health ministry in this pandemic.

Also the minister in a press confrence referred to the large numbers of cases revealed in past days saying, "During the past three days, everyone noticed an increase in the number of people infected with the coronavirus, due to the active testing of areas."
