Mangaluru, Oct 24: The Social Democratic Party of India is gearing up for the polls to urban local bodies (ULBs), scheduled to be held on November 12 in Karnataka including Davangere and Mangaluru city corporations.
Addressing a press conference in the city today, Akram Hasan, SDPI Karnataka state secretary, said that the party has already finalised 25 candidates in Mangaluru, Davangere, Magadi, Kolar, Mulbagil and Kanakapura. Soon another list of candidates for other selected wards will be released.
Ataullah Jokatte, SDPI DK district president, said that out of 60 wards of Mangaluru City Corporation, the party would contest in 15 wards. Candidates for six wards have already been finalised. Another list of wards and their candidates would be released within three days, he said. The finalised wards and their candidates of MCC are as follows:
Bajal (Kabeer Bajal); Bengre (Muneeb Bengre); Kannur (Misriya Haneef); Katipalla North (Shamshad Banu); Panjimogaru (Haneef Kavoor); Kudroli (Muzair Kudroli).
SDPI leaders Antony PD, Shahul SH and Iqbal Bellare were present at the press meet.
