Shameer Ahmed Kudroli emerged as humorous speech champion in Area 63 toastmasters’ speech contest

Jubail, Mar 17: Toastmasters’ International (area 63, division E, District 79), Al-Jubail conducted a host of competitions as a part of its annual speech competitions. The contests were held in four main categories, viz- evaluation, humour speech, table topic and international speech.

Surprisingly one name outdid everyone else thereby emerging as winner in Humours Speech competition. Immediate past governor of Area63 Toastmaster Shameer Ahmed Kudroli who competed in three categories beat his contenders to bag himself first place in humorous speech with speech title ‘My Hundred Riyals Coupon’ and entertained the huge audience with his unique style of delivery. Humorous is the toughest category of competition among other three categories all the toastmasters strive to put their best effort to emerge as the winner. Shameer won the first runner up in Table Topic contest as well.

In evaluation contest Meshari Al Barghouthi was the winner followed by Prashant Hejib and Syed Saifullah. In Humorous speech competition Iqbal Ahmad Raj first runner up and MTM Zehra Jabeen was the second runner up. In Table Topic Meshari Al-Barghouthi was the winner and Shameer Ahmed first runner up while Syed Saifullah settled at the third place. In International speech competition Prashant Hejib was the winner and Mesfer Sayeed stood second and Syed Saifullah third.

The competitions were conducted on Friday, 14th March 2014 at Cookzon Restaurant Conference Hall, Al Jude. The event was presided over by Area Governor TM Aziz Ahmed Siddiqui, who said that the competitions of this kind help participants sharpen their oratory skills.

This is the first time after inception of GAS TM Club members in the area level bagged 1st places in three categories out of four.

Area Governors of Division E & L, sister club presidents and DTM’s were the guests of honour. Banner Parade of all the clubs under Area 63 was conducted. The presidents and representatives of Global TM Asif Siddiqui, Bechtel TM Sayeed Khan, Royal Commission DTM Safare Mohammed and GAS TM Sulaiman Al Teheni held the banners with Area 63 Governor TM Aziz Siddiqui.

DTM Safare Mohammed was the Chief Judge with his panel of judges to select the best one to represent Area63 in Division ‘E’ contest. Huzaiffa Warorawalla was the Master of ceremonies with youth leaders as anchors.

At the end of the program certificates were distributed to all the assignees and participants for making this event a memorable one. Program ended with sumptuous dinner.

The winners and the 1st runner ups of the competition will be eligible to take part in the Division level competitions which will be held in 18th & 19th of April 2014.

Dammam: President of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Mr.Wasim Rabbani urged immediate intervention of Indian government to help Non Residential Indians who are in trouble due to corona pandemic in Saudi Arabia.

He said in a press rease that expatriate Indians are in concern  as number of corona infected people and  deaths are increasing in danger level.

Hea said, "the Saudi health minister's statement a few days ago indicates that the situation in Saudi needs to be taken more seriously with precautionary methods. There are concerns among expatriates because the number of people infected with the coronavirus and the number of deaths reported in various provinces are increasing at an alarming rate."

"Saudi Government and Health Ministry are taking excellent precautionary measures, however, in the coming days expect to see the number of cases to increase in Saudi Arabia. The Indian government needs to take diplomatic and immediate intervention to ensure the treatment of Indian expatriates considering the number of effected people increasing", He said.

He also urged that the Embassy and the Government of India should ensure qaurantiane faculty for Indian expatriates and arrange special low cost flights to bring back expatriates who would like to return home country.

" Government of India and Indian embassy need to intervene immediately to ensure that the quarantine system is in place for Indian expatriates as the facilities in the rooms where the residents are staying together are very limited. There should also be a mechanism to organize low-cost flight services for expatriates who are ready to go home. The government system should also be able to accommodate the expatriates in special quarantine areas in hometown as soon they arrive in India", he urged.

Dubai, May 20: Dubai-based Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club’s humanitarian services in charge Naseer Karaje team have appreciated the efforts of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Mangaluru Airport director, NGOs of Mangaluru, and MLA for extending a royal welcome to second batch of repatriates from Dubai that landed at Mangaluru Airport on May 18.

There was so much of confusions when 1st batch of repatriation flight landed in Mangaluru airport on 12th May due to lack of proper arrangements and co ordination.

This time due to proper arrangements and special supervision by the DC everything was driven smoothly. It has given a confidence to all the Manglurean expats of Dubai in returning to their native places, the KSCC said.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.
