Kozhikode, Nov 7: The two CPM youths arrested over alleged Maoist links and against whom UAPA charges were slapped, were denied bail by the Kozhikode District Principal Sessions Court on Wednesday.
The bail pleas of Alan Shuhaib and Thaha Fasal were rejected by the court on what is said to be 'strong' evidence against them by police. Alan and Thaha were arrested on Saturday and police claimed that they were in possession of brochures favouring Maoists.
According to the relatives of the two youths, they would now move Kerala High Court. They expect the State Government stand against UAPA to come in their favour in the High Court.
The sessions court also accepted the demand of the defendant counsel to meet the accused. The lawyers are expected to meet them personally for an hour. A petition was filed by Hindu Aikya Vedi opposing the bail plea. However, the court did not consider this petition.
