Shut down illegal abattoirs, KSE urges Siddaramaiah

Shivamogga, Apr 4: Senior BJP?leader K?S Eshwarappa on Monday said that Anti-Cow Slaughter Act would be implemented in the state, if the BJP is voted to power in the next Assembly elections.

EshwarappaSpeaking to journalists here, Eshwarappa demanded that the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government close down all illegal slaughter houses in the state without any second thought.

Referring to chief minister’s statement that he would not ban slaughter houses in Karnataka as was being done in the BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, Eshwarappa said that Siddaramaiah must tender an apology to the people of the state for hurting their religious sentiments. It is an open secret that all non-vegetarians are not beef eaters and, a large number of people worship cow. When this is the reality, Siddaramaiah’s statement makes no sense, said Eshwarappa, who is also the leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council.

To a query, he admitted that there are differences within the BJP and it is quite common. “They would be resolved either by ourselves or by our senior leaders.” Asked about the incident pertaining to the removal banners containing pictures of BJP leader and former MP?Ayanur Manjunath in Shivamogga city, Eshwarappa said he would discuss the issue with the local leaders.

Bengaluru, May 3: Karnataka Education Minister S Suresh Kumar on Saturday said that those who want to travel from other states to Karnataka and vice-versa must register on 'Sevasindhu' website.

"Those who want to travel from other states to Karnataka and from Karnataka to other states must register on 'Sevasindhu' website, then all intimation will be shared from the government side," Kumar said.

Karnataka Health Department on Saturday said that three deaths and 12 new COVID-19 cases were reported in last 24 hours in the state.

According to the Health Department, the total number of coronavirus positive cases in the state is now 601. 271 patients have either been cured or discharged. The virus has killed 25 people so far in the state.

Madikeri, Apr 5: Following the novel Coronavirus and imposition of Lockdown in the country and departure of the migrant labour force to their hometowns, the harvest of Pepper and post-harvest process of Coffee have taken a hit in Kodagu region of Karnataka.

In the Coffee land, most of the workers at these estates are primarily from north Karnataka and neighbouring districts, including Periyapatna and Hunsur taluks in Mysuru District. Local workers are also sourced for the job as the harvest area is large.

The Kodagu district which already faced severe natural calamity during the last two years now added with the COVID-19 outbreak and the subsequent Lockdown, many workers have returned to their home districts, barring a few who have been working in the plantations for many years and reside in the estates themselves.

Bantwal, Apr 29: Two people were injured after the truck laden with poultry feed rammed into the compound wall of after catching fire on Wednesday, at Marnabailu near Melkar.

Police said the injured were the driver and an assistant in the truck. They were admitted to a private hospital at Mangaluru.

However, it is not yet clear whether the truck transporting poultry feed from a company at Kandur caught fire after colliding against the electric pole or with the compound wall.
