Bangalore, June 7: Residents of Venkatagirikote, a small village off NH 7 near Bengaluru International Airport were astounded to find as many as six human skulls and other skeletal remains in a plastic bag abandoned close to a lake on Wednesday morning.

With the Annigeri incident still fresh in memory, Venkatagirikote soon became the centre of attention with regional and some national television channels descending on the village.

Naveen Kumar, 27, a fisherman told Deccan Herald that some village boys found an abandoned plastic bag on the lake bed on Wednesday.

“They poured the contents out to use the bag to carry fish to a nearby market. But they were shocked to see human skulls and skeletal remains tumble out of it. They fled the scene and alerted us. We rushed to the spot to see the bag and the skeletal remains,” he said.

Vijayapura police too rushed to the spot and searched the area for any other remains or clues and seized the skeletal remains. According to the police, there were six human skulls and 12 pairs of femur bones and limb bones. The bones were tied together with pieces of a saree.

C Pillappa, another fisherman, told Deccan Herald that English letters were written on the skulls and each of the bones of the limbs were tied together in pairs. Police too confirmed this.

Sandeep Kavri, Sub-inspector Vijayapura, said that the skulls were initialled for identification. The six skulls were named A, K, I , F, B and G. The skeletal remains might belong to some medical college and the college staff might have disposed it of on the lake bed, said the police.

They said that only skulls and femur bones being found and they being initialed for identification gave credence to the theory. Some marks of surgery on the skulls indicate that they have undergone autopsy. They have also been numbered.

Some skeletal remains were also found burnt using firewood about 20 feet away from the spot. The bones being tied together with pieces of saree have also raised suspicion of black magic. The police too do not rule out the possibility of the skeletal remains being stolen from some medical college by those who practice black magic.

After the police did a survey of the area and seized all skeletal remains, the residents of the village found a few more femur bones and a jaw near the spot where skeletal remains were burnt.

Vijayapura Police have handed over the skeletal remains to the Devanahalli Government Hospital for medical opinion. Kavri told Deccan Herald that once the medical officer gave his opinion they would send the remains to the forensic lab for further examination.

Etawah, Jul 9: Another aide of the Kanpur encounter accused Vikas Dubey, Bahua Dubey, died in an encounter with the police, here on Thursday.

"Today at around 4.30 AM, in an encounter with the Etawah Police, one person has died. from him, a rifle and a pistol too has been recovered. When we shared the information with the Kanpur Police, they identified him as Bahua Dubey," said SSP Etawah Akash Tomar.

"He was involved in the Kanpur encounter alongside Vikas Dubey and there was a bounty of Rs 50,000 on him," he added.

"Around 3 AM on the highway near Mahewa Police Station Bakewar, a Swift Dzire car was looted by four armed assailants on a Scorpio. Around 4:30 AM, they were intercepted at Kachaura road under Police Station Civil lines by the police. When police parties chased them, the car collided with a tree, and criminals started firing at the police," he further said.

Dubey sustained injuries during the encounter and was pronounced dead when taken to the hospital. However, the other three managed to escape. One pistol, a double-barrel gun, and several cartridges have been recovered, he informed further.

Earlier today, Prabhat Mishra, also an aide of the main accused, died after being shot at by the police.

Mishra had sustained an injury on the leg after being shot at by the police and was rushed to a hospital before being pronounced dead.

Vikas Dubey is the main accused in the encounter that took place in Kanpur last week, in which a group of assailants allegedly opened fire on a police team, which had gone to arrest him. Eight police personnel were killed in the encounter.

A search operation is currently underway to nab Dubey.

New Delhi, Jun 8: A 10-month-old girl allegedly lost her life in an accident in West Delhi's Tilak Nagar area, the police said on Sunday.

"The incident took place when the baby was in the compound of the parking area at the ground floor of her residence and the driver of Mercedes Benz was reversing the car," a police official said.

The deceased was identified as Radhika, whose father Rakesh used to work as the security guard in the said residence.

The unfortunate incident occurred at around 3.30 p.m. in the afternoon following which the baby was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital where she was declared brought dead.

The owner of the said Mercedes Benz SUV is identified as Jassbir Singh who is into elevator business. At the time of the incident, his driver Akhilesh was driving the said vehicle.

"The offending vehicle has also been taken into possession and the FSL team is being summoned for inspection. Investigation in this matter is underway," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) West Delhi.

Bareilly (UP), May 19: Samajwadi leader Chhotelal Diwakar and his son, Sunil Diwakar, were shot dead in broad daylight in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The entire incident was caught on camera.

The murder was apparently a fallout of a dispute over laying of a road under MGNREGA.

Chhotelal Diwakar had contested the 2017 assembly elections on a Samajwadi Party ticket.

Superintendent of Police, (SP), Sambhal, Yamuna Prasad, said, "Some work was being carried out under MGNREGA due to which some dispute happened. Two people have been shot dead. We will reach the spot of the incident to find more details."

According to his family members, Diwakar and his son had gone for a walk in the fields when the assailants came on a motorbike and after a brief altercation, shot them dead. They fled on foot, leaving their motorbike behind.

A large number of SP workers reached the village soon after the news of the double murder spread.

SP Yamuna Prasad who reached the spot that falls under Behjoi police station, soon after the murders, said that a manhunt has been launched for the assailants. He said that further investigations were underway and the bodies have been sent for post mortem.
