New Delhi, Dec 18: Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor has been named PETA India's person of the year for 2018 for her animal advocacy efforts.

A statement from the animal rights body People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India said Kapoor has taken various actions for animals including praising vegan eating and keeping animal skins out of her handbag line -- Rheson.

"Whether she's enjoying vibrant vegan meals or rallying her fans to do their part to stop animal suffering, Sonam Kapoor never hesitates to help animals any way she can.

"PETA India encourages everyone to take a page out of her book and live with compassion and respect for all beings" said PETA India Associate Director Sachin Bangera.

Kapoor was named PETA India's Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity in 2016 and earned a Compassionate Business Award from the group a year later for her cruelty-free handbag line, Rheson.

PETA India said Kapoor's past animal advocacy efforts include urging the Environment Ministry not to revoke the ban on classroom dissection for university life science and zoology students, calling for a Maharashtra state-wide ban on glass-coated manja that can entangle and kill birds and donating "kind kites" to children to help prevent injuries from manja.

Past recipients of PETA India's Person of the Year Award include Anushka Sharma, Sunny Leone, Dr Shashi Tharoor, former Supreme Court Justice KS Panicker Radhakrishnan, actors Kapil Sharma, Hema Malini and others.

Mar 11: The shooting of Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai has been completed, and the film will now release on schedule.

If one recalls, the film went on the floors in the first week of November 2019 and was supposed to be Salman’s fastest completed film. However, the movie faced a variety of roadblocks — It was first to be wrapped in the first week of February, “But Salman went off to his Panvel farmhouse after the release of Dabangg 3 and spent a while there ushering in his birthday,” a source reveals.

“Then, the extension of the show Bigg Boss 13 by five weeks also turned out to be another speed breaker. Then, Salman wanted to make sure that the film was being made as good as what his audiences wanted on Eid. He made sure that his director Prabhudeva got what he wanted from the performers and didn’t want to rush him.

"Additionally, the Azerbaijan schedule of the film also got cancelled as Salman did not want to take any chances with the cast and crew with the lurking Covid 19, and rescheduled the shoot in India. This is now complete, barring any patchwork that might emerge later,” our source adds.

Radhe is slated to be an Eid release, which will clash with Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb.
