Special team formed to nab V Nagaraj's 'missing' wife

teamBengaluru, May 21: Police are on hunt for Lakshmi Nagaraj, wife of former BBMP corporator V Nagaraj alias Naga who was arrested after Rs 15 crore in banned currency was seized from his house on April 14.

A special team has been formed to trace Lakshmi who had allegedly fled her Srirampura house.

"During questioning, Nagaraj confessed to have converted black money into white and also revealed his wife's role in the business.Based on his statement, we have considered her as a partner in the crime," police said.

Naga and his two sons, Gandhi and Shastri, were arrested on May 10 from their hideout at Arcot in Tamil Nadu.

Thane, Jul 19: A 34-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing his wife after picking up a fight as he did not like the food she cooked, Thane police said.

Sachin Godane, a resident of Gaikwad Pada in Ambernath, locked his two children and an aunt in one room of the house on Friday afternoon and brutally beat up his wife Chandrakala (28) with a log and then strangled her, said Assistant Inspector JB Bhoyer of Shivajinagar police station.

Godane has been remanded in police custody for four days, he added.

Bengaluru, Feb 19: Bengaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) on Wednesday raided a spa in Koramangala area and rescued six girls.

The owner of the spa is absconding and the manager has been arrested.

Nagpur, Apr 5: A 23-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Imambada area in Nagpur on Saturday due to financial distress, police said.

Nikhil Gavhane, who worked in a grocery shop, hanged himself as he had taken money from a person and was stressed over repayment, an official said.

"He was depressed since a week," the Imambada police station official said.
