Stars pay tribute as 'Jee Karda' singer Labh Janjua is found dead at home

Mumbai, Oct 23: Popular Punjabi singer Labh Janjua was found dead at his Mumbai apartment in Goregaon on Thursday. He was 57.

The singer’s body was reportedly discovered by his domestic help, and was subsequently taken to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem.

Police are still investigating the cause of his death.

janjuaThe star’s most recent hits include London Thumakda from Queen (2014) and Dil kare Chu Che from Singh Is Bliing (2015).

Janjua shot to fame lending his voice to 1998’s rage Mundeyan Toh Bachke Rahin, a dance number that blends bhangra, electronica and alternative hip-hop. The song, produced by Panjabi MC, was later used by Kaizad Gustad in his 2004 crossover film Boom, which starred Amitabh Bachchan and was Katrina Kaif’s debut film.

Janjua was born in Khanna, a town in Ludhiana, Punjab, where he received his musical training before arriving in Mumbai to chase his showbiz dreams.

While Boom tanked at the box-office, his song became a hit and very soon he was sought after by well-reputed producers such as Pritam to lend his voice to their compositions.

Pritam went on to sign him to sing the song Pyaar karke for the 2006 hit Pyaar ke side/effects.

In a short span, Janjua rose to prominence and recorded a series of Bollywood hits. Among his many hits are peppy dance numbers that continue to be popular, such as are Chori Chori in the film Garam Masala, Soni De Nakhre in Partner, and Jee karda and Talli hua in Singh Is King.

His other notable songs include Mahi menu in Dev.D, and Jawaani Din Chaar in the recent release, Second Hand Husband.

Apart from recording blockbuster hits, Janjua also recorded several solo albums. These include Raatan Toon Lambe Khat, Bewafa, Beyond Belief and many more.

Pritam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Salim Merchant, Benny Dayal were among the celebrities who expressed grief over the untimely demise of Janjua.

New Delhi Apr 10:  Actor Salman Khan on Friday thanked people for staying indoors and shared two pictures, first showing Bada Qabaristan's (graveyard) gate which has been closed due to lockdown and the second was of an empty street in Mumbai.

The actor thanked the people for listening to the guidelines and understanding the gravity of this situation amid the 21-day government-imposed lockdown in view of coronavirus outbreak. The tweet by 'Dabangg' actor came soon after the conclusion of Shab-e-Barat.

Shab-e-Barat is observed as a day of forgiveness or atonement in Islam and leads to congregations at graveyards and religious places.

The 54-year-old actor took to Twitter and wrote, "Wah! Thank u for listening n understanding the gravity of this situation the country is in. God bless n protect each n every 1.

Over the past few days, appeals were made to the Muslim community from several quarters to not venture out of their houses to pray on Shab-e-Barat in view of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Earlier, the 'Tiger Zinda Hai' star shared his lockdown experience in a video message with nephew Nirvaan and urged people to take the government's advisory of self-isolation seriously amid the rising cases of coronavirus in the country.

New Delhi, Mar 19: Days after being diagnosed with COVID-19, 'Oblivion' actor Olga Kurylenko said that she is better as her fever has now gone.

The 40-year-old actor took to Instagram to share the health update with a picture of herself wearing a face mask.

"Hello everyone! I'm feeling better today. My fever is gone! I hear people can't figure out where I currently am. I'm in London!," she wrote in the caption.

The 'Quantum of Solace' actor also shared details about coronavirus with her Instafam.

"How do I know it's coronavirus and not just a flu? I did a test for coronavirus which came back positive. What are the medicines that doctors prescribed as treatment? NONE!" she wrote.

"I was told to take paracetamol in case my fever was too high and if I was in too much pain. However, I do take vitamins and supplements. Please note that these vitamins do NOT cure coronavirus but only help the immune system be stronger in order to fight!" Kurylenko added.

She also shared a detailed list of medicines that she is taking to deal with the condition.

The 'Oblivion' actor joined the growing list of entertainment figures who have contracted the highly contagious virus on Monday.

Other Hollywood personalities who were earlier diagnosed with COVID-19 are superstar couple Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. The celebrity couple has been discharged from the hospital and are under quarantine at their home.

Other celebrities that are currently battling with the coronavirus are music producer Andrew Watt, 'Game of Thrones' actor Kristofer Hivju, and actor Idris Elba.

New Delhi, Jun 2: Actor Anushka Sharma on Tuesday exhorted people to maintain hygiene and advised to stop open defecation in a bid to avoid coronavirus spread.

As the country is grappling with the coronavirus crisis, the 'PK' actor has joined the initiative with the Swachh Bharat Mission, which aims to tell the people that the contagion can be curbed through strict sanitation process.

"When women all over the country had decided that they would educate everyone on the lesson of close the door, shun the disease, no one had thought that their initiative would turn into such a huge wave!," the actor was seen saying in a video posted in the official Twitter handle of Swachh Bharat I #IndiaFightsCorona.

"Today, in the time of coronavirus pandemic, we all have to again remember and remind others about the lesson of cleanliness," she added.

"If we take care of cleanliness around us, by not defecating in the open, we will keep ourselves healthy and India clean. We will become strong to fight against any kind of disease," the 32-year-old star said.

The 'Sultan' actor noted that by stopping defecating in open and closing the toilet door at all times can be a solid measure to drive the disease out of the country.
