Street play held to ‘save water, life and Netravathi’

Mangalore, Mar 22: On the occasion of International Forest Day, students from the Department of Mass Communication, St. Aloysius College staged a thought provoking street play on the issue of Netravathi River diversion, which held at St. Aloysius College campus at 3.30pm, gathered the attention of massive youth across the city. The educated Mangalorean youngsters were on full swing as they acted it out to vent their inner feelings about the disastrous project.

The street play focused on various issues of Netravathi River diversion such as ecological imbalances, water scarcity, and migration of farmers, deforestation and threat to biodiversities. Be fair for green care, save Netravathi save life, Let Neravathi flows as it flows and our land our river, were the slogans echoed during  the street play.

Several activists from the city extended their support to the youngsters’ initiation to save Netravathi by gracing the occasion with their presence. Gopadkar, an Activist said “Protection of Netravati and the fight for water should be echoed in all campuses of Mangalore and educated youth should come forward to carry on this issue further.”

Mangaluru, July 14: Melkar  Women's PU college has achieved excellent pass percentage in II PUC examinations, the results of which were announced today.

As many as 140 students of the college had appeared for second PU board exam 2020 this year. The college secured 95% results in the current academic year.

Among them 24 students passed with distinction and 94 with with first class marks.

Fathima Nisha (558 in Arts),

Zaithunnisa (561 in commerce) and Zainaba ifrath (545 in science) are the toppers of respective sections in the college.

Puttur, May 9: City based Team B-Human today distributed Ramadan kits among 70 families in Koodu Raste Jamaat and 30 families in Papetthadka Jamaat in Puttur taluk. 

This was the second phase of Ramadan kit distributions carried out by the Team B-Human. So far the team distributed Ramadan kits among 200 families in three different Jamaat.

Koodu Raste Juma Masjid Khateeb Yaqoob Darimi offered dua before distribution.  Team B-Human members Ashraf Aina group, Althaf, Shia Deals, Ahnaf Deals, Abdul Shukoor Haji, and E-Friends founder president Imtiyaz Perla, Saleem U B of Youth Congress, Juma Masjid president P K Mohammad Shafi Papettadka were present. 

A release issued by the Team B-Human sated that it distributed food among 35,000 people since April 23. The beneficiaries include a large number of migrant workers irrespective of their caste and religion. It also arranged Iftar and Suhoor for around 450 stranded migrants every day.

Asif Deals, found of Team B-Human, said that in next phases more Ramadan kits will be distributed among needy families in some jamaats.
