Dubai: It was really a glittering magnificent show with hundreds of bodybuilders from all over the world participated in the first ever "Mr. International Indian 2015-16 Championship" organised by Team Dubai Indians, presented by Rhythm Events under the aegis of Emirates Bodybuilding Federation & General Authority of Youth & Sports Affairs, UAE on 30th of January, 2016 at Al Nasr Leisureland Ice Rink wherein a mighty high LED lighted stage was set up with all settings of international standards witnessed by both Emiratis and Asians sports liking audience throughout the day till late evening.

The morning session started around 11.00 am as Shodhan Prasad who is part of the organising team welcomed the sportive audience and introduced Team members Imran Khan, Afroz Assadi, Eusub Ansar, Asif Baikady, Sirajuddin, Abdul Mukhtar, Abdul Rahman & Chiranjith Hegde on the stage. The inauguration commenced with a prayer and opening up the qualifying rounds for all the participants who were finalized the previous day with trunk numbers categorized into qualified weight categories.

International Judges

The whole competition was professionally judged by 12 member International judges under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Hamid Al Ansari of UAE Police who was the Head of Judge Committee along with Khaled Al Shamsi, Abdul Majid Yezbag, Adil Al Fosani, Waleed Abdul Karim, Jasim Ashkanani, Chassib Al Khaisi, Mohd. Khair Alzol, Farzad Sanini (former Bodybuilding Champion of Iran), Suleiman Azadi who are all International Judges of UAE and Khasim Yazbag who is the World Champion in bodybuilding and also known as the middle judge & Hassan Lashein who is the former Arab Champion, Egypt Champion, Mediteranian Champion, International Refree and Refree of this event co-ordinated throughout with Abdul Majid Yezbag who compiled the marks online on the spot following the international standards and was declaring the results instantly.

Qualifying rounds

As expected there were more than 400 registered contestants out of which many got drop out because of either no official documents and/or were not able to participate as per the required criteria of the competition. Finally listed were 140 plus contestants out of which around 87 were adjudged qualified after the weighing round which took place in Banquet Hall of Zammoradah in Karama on 29th of January, 2016 from 5 PM till late night in the presence of the International Judges Committee who were the final decision makers.

The confirmed 87 contestants in the age group 60 kg., 70 kg., 80 kg., 90 kg., 100 kg. & above 100 kg. categories participated one by one flexing their muscles to the widest possible different postures with the glittering colours on their body which reflected on the back side LED boards impressing all the judges who ably adjudged the whole session, ticking appropriate marks as per the international judging standards. Wherever the judges wanted the contestants to repose, they have done it with all politeness and sincerity.

To make this competition a free and fair event, non Indian judges were appointed who really put their whole effort wisely and truly to identify 6 finalists from each category except for the +100 kgs. which had 3 finalists, totaling 33 finalists. This process took around four hours which concluded at around 3 pm in the noon.

Final Rounds

After a break of 2 hours the final round of this international competition started at around 5 PM with Chief Guest Abdul Karim Mohd Saed (2nd Vice President EBBF), Brig. Gen. Hamid Al Ansari and the Guest of Honour 'The Great Khali' the living giant of WWE along with his Manager Sarabjith Kaur (fondly known as BulBul Singh in the wrestling rings) witnessing the finals. RJ Harsha took over the afternoon session which started with singing of National Anthem of both UAE & India by the students of GEMS Indian School, Angeline Abraham, Jehoash Jonah, Kaelin Sanfrancis, Mathew Joshua, Rithy Rachel Soj, Riya Mary Bino, Shannon Fernandes, Sivani Suresh, Subulakshmi Somasundaram, Sundareswaran Sharma & Vishnu Suresh Kumar who respectively presented witnessed by standing audience too. While the Team Dubai Indians and Members of Emirates Bodybuilding Federation were also on the stage.

Flower bouquet were presented to all the Guests on Stage and Harsha handed over the stage once again to Hassan Lashein, the International Refree to continue with the final rounds with 33 finalists.

The final rounds went on interesting with weight categories set of six presenting as group as well as individual presentations with background music which made the event more gracious with each contestants flexing their muscles to the musical tunes differently. There were huge applause as well as cheers from their supporters and fans from the audience every now and then.

Indian And Arabic Culture

To add spice and flavour there were various dances beautifully presented by Body & Soul Group with Natasha, Liubov, Abigail, Chris, Imran, Hicham, Maricar, Subodh, Fatma, Rose Vila, Brayan, Mary & El Hassan who showcased Arabic Dance, Step Dance, Aerobic Indian Dance & Sumba Dance while another group from 'CLASSICAL RHYTHMS' presented Indian Classical Fusion Dance comprising of Bharthanatyam, Kathak, Kuchupudi, Odissi and Mohiniattam classically performed by Ishani, Aditi, Bhavna, Tanvi, Yuktha, Smriti & Prerana. All these dances were scheduled in between different weight groups competition and were smoothly conducted.

All the contestants who participated but lost in this competition were invited on to the stage and presented with Memento individually and Certificate of Participation and the honours were done by the Team Dubai Indians on the stage.

Top Six

From the 33 finalists the judges adjudged the final six winners in each category with Winners and five place holders as Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth & Sixth Runner-up respectively category wise. Except for the top six all others were presented with Cup, Certificate of participation while the first runner-up was additionally honoured with Rs.50,000/- cheque and the second runner-up was presented with Rs.25,000/- cheque

Title & Winners

The final six were again invited on to the stage for the final rounds of Title. The following were finally judged and honoured accordingly:-

1st place title holder "Champion of the Champions" Mr. Intl. Indian 2015-16 - Sunit Jadav who along with the Title received Rs.1 Million prize money, Cup, Medal, Certificate and Special Gift Hamper from Thumbay Group.

2nd place was grabbed by Vipin Peter who along with the title received Rs. 5 Lakhs, Cup, Medal, Certificate & Special Gift Hamper from Thumbay Group.

3rd place was clinched by Ram Niwas Chand who along with the title received Rs.2.5 lakhs, Cup, Medal, Certificate & Special Gift Hamper from Thumbay Group.

4th place was won by Anil Ghochikkar who along with the title received Rs. 1 Lakh, Cup, Medal & Certificate of appreciation.

5th place was Sumeet Balbir Singh who along with the title received Rs. 1 Lakh, Cup, Medal & Certificate of appreciation.

6th place was Suraj Reshm Kalathinkal who along with the title received Rs. 1 Lakh, Cup, Medal & Certificate of appreciation.

All the winners were honoured by 'The Great Khali', Abdul Karim Mohd. Saed, Walid Abdul Karim, Khalid Bilooshi, Sarabjit Kaur, Farzad Samimi and Members of Team Dubai Indian while the top sixes were honoured by the Sponsors of the event present during the event. Imran Khan the leader of the Team concluded the vote of thanks.

RJ Harsha, Shodhan Prasad & Hassan Lashein smoothly conducted the whole programme flawlessly. Ladies team comprising of Ashwini & Sayeeda along with Adarsh, Kausar & Sameer Bolar volunteered throughout dedicatedly. The entire process of the Championship event was professionally conducted to international standards though this was the maiden attempt by Team Dubai Indians, captured by most of the medias who witnessed the show throughout.

Jeddah: The first chartered flight for repatriation passengers from Jeddah to Bengaluru organized by Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah – Saudi Arabia was successfully landed at Bengaluru airport by 01.00 am on 19th July 2020.

Spice Jet (SG9884) departed from King Abdul Aziz International Airport Jeddah by 05.00 pm local time with 177 stranded passengers which includes 12 Pregnant Woman, 3 infants, 44 Short term visa holders, 3 medical emergency patients and 115 migrate workers and labours from various districts of Karnataka state.

Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah, a registered charitable organization under Government of Karnataka & Indian Consulate Jeddah - Saudi Arabia, helping the Kannadigas overseas & in Karnataka State as well, has initiated major role for helping stranded Kannadigas to travel back to home. During Pandemic hundreds of stranded Kannadigas were approached to the forum and requested to arrange special chartered flight to Bengaluru from Jeddah.

Initiating from collecting the data of passengers, the forum’s special panel including its President Mr. Mohammed Mansoor, Secretary Mr. Peter Mascarenes, Vice Presidents Mr. Nasir Khurshid, Dr.Ashfaque Maniyar, Chief Coordinator Mr. Shaikh Saoud, Cultural Secretaries Mr. Arifulla Shariff and Mr. Rajesh Suvarna, Treasurer Mr. Habib Rahman and Press Secretary Mr. Baig, the forum’s members have worked very hard to conclude this task very successful. 

The forum provided food packets as refreshment, complementary PPE kitsto each passenger as precaution against the spread of any infections while travelling and also guided all passengers by supporting them in Awdha portal (Saudi Passport Department) and Seva Sindhu portal registration of Government of Karnataka.

The official travel partner ITL Travel Management Company has rendered remarkable service to the passengers not only in ticketing but also supported with top priority in confirming the aircraft from SPICE JET and availed good service from ground staff at Jeddah Airport. 

All passengers have reached safely to their homes after completing the 7 days institutional quarantine at Bengaluru. 100% passengers had NEGETIVE report on Covid-19 test made on arrival as well as after institutional quarantine. 

In the press release published from the President, Mr. Mohammed Mansoor has expressed his prodigious gratitude to the Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia H. E. Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, Deputy Consul General of India - Jeddah Mr. Y Saber and Chief Minister of Karnataka State Shri B. S. Yediyurappafor providing necessary approvals and NOC for the chartered flight operation. He also conveyed his boundless appreciationto Shri B. Y. Raghavendra, Member of Parliament Shimoga District (Karnataka) for his swift support extended to the forum and as well to Dr. Aarathi Krishna, Ex-Deputy Chairperson – NRI Forum of Karnataka – Government of Karnataka for her significant guidance and support on completing this mission.

The forum has thanked all the officers in King Abdul Aziz International Airport Jeddah and Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru for the facilities provided to the passengers. Kuwait: Friday Forum Kuwait conducted its 12th inter-school Islamic Elocution Competition at Hotel Rajadhani Palace, Khaitan on 1st January 2020. 

The competition, which was held in the senior and junior categories had participation from 15 Indian Schools across Kuwait comprising of 43 students. In the senior category, Ayisha Wafiya of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Efrem Joseph of Indian Community School, Amman won the second prize. 

In the junior category, Hima Jameela of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Fadhel Kandapath of Fahaheel Al Wataniya Indian School won the second prize. Nawaal Yaseen Ebrahim of Indian Community School (SR), Salmiya and Rhruthunanda of Indian Learners Own Academy, Abbasiya won the consolation prizes in senior and junior categories respectively.

This year, the event was fully conducted by the ladies wing of Friday Forum. Dr. Thasneem Amir, Ibtisam Basheer, Toast Masters Ola Rasheed, Fatma Abduhedeid, Shazia Thabassum and Marium Rangat were the judges for the competition in senior and junior categories. The event started with the Qira’at by Saneera Riyas, followed by welcome speech by Dr. Sajna Mohammed. 

The prizes were distributed to winners by Shahina Mansoor, Femitha Faseeh, Dr.Thasneem Amir, Dr. Sajna Mohammed, Zeenath Yacoub, Safna Sayam and Saneera Riyas. The Souvenir for the program - “INSPERIA 2020”- was released during the event by the chief editor Farha Abdul Rahman. The program was compered by Thanveera Noushad and the program convenor Subeana Shabeer conveyed the vote of thanks.

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.
